Totally worth it for the old ladies alone.
It's barely enough for a movie, but those old, Italian ladies are a charming handful.
A film which answers the age old question... how many drinks does one need to survive four old women?
I watched this, Mid-August Lunch, because the director Gianni Di Gregorio just released a new movie(The Salt of Life) so I thought why not. Looking now, I see he was also one of the writers of the Italian crime film Gomorra(which I haven't seen yet, but will be eager to now). And whoops, it seems like he was the lead in Mid-August Lunch! And he was great!
It's a lightttttt light movie; an hour 15 minutes. I don't think this movie is for everyone(my girlfriend hated it) but I really enjoyed it. It's directed and acted perfectly and I found the interactions of the characters very interesting. It just gives you that authentic look into another culture, can't beat that. Very funny too, though not in the traditional sense. I'll probably watch this again sooner than later. It's on netflix streaming, btw.
