Monster a-Go Go
1965 Directed by Bill Rebane, Herschell Gordon Lewis
Synopsis
A way-out tale of a far-out monster!
The plot concerns an American astronaut, Frank Douglas, who mysteriously disappears from his spacecraft as it parachutes to Earth. The vanished astronaut is apparently replaced by or turned into a large, radioactive, humanoid monster. A team of scientists and military men attempt to capture the monster — and at one point succeed, only to have him escape again. Neither the capture nor the escape are ever shown, simply mentioned by the narrator.

I was nearly at a loss of words after seeing this. Monster a-Go Go is without a doubt, one of the worst "movies" you'll ever see, literally. So, so bad that it's not even "so-bad-it's-good", but just a painful experience all around. Even with the MST3K commentary, it is still hard to sit through.
Why is this film so bad? Well, it's a film where NOTHING happens whatsoever. A strung-together piece of random events that make very little sense. The story (if you can even call it that) focuses on an astronaut named Frank Douglas who has returned to earth and (supposedly) been effected by radiation, which seems to have transformed him into a 10-foot tall monster that goes around…

Hooooooooo boy is this one a stinker. Like really, REALLY bad. Really bad. I've seen more action-packed episodes of Antiques Roadshow.

Watched this with the kids via Mystery-Science Theater 3000. A hilariously bad movie that often doesn't make any damn sense. But the MST-3K commentary is hilarious.

Although certainly one of the worst movie monsters I’ve ever seen, this silly horror film isn’t as unwatchable as some others (ahem, Coleman Francis), as the plot at least makes some sense, no matter how frustrating it may be. Bill Rebane directs the snail’s pace proceedings as they track a monster assumed to be a mutated crashed astronaut. Lots of cheap scenes of firemen running around and awful location work make viewers wonder exactly what the “a-go-go” part of the film is.
