When discussing favourite Pixar films people tend to focus on the Toy Story trilogy, Wall-E and Up. These are all undoubtedly great films but for me Pixar’s most complete work still remains their 2001 release, Monsters, Inc. Despite the arrival of a prequel later this year it is one of the studio’s most ignored features for reasons I’ve never really been able to fathom as it still possesses the same warmth, humour and great characters that have become synonymous with Pixar over the years.
There are many reasons why this is my favourite Pixar film to date. As far as I am concerned it is their most rounded movie that manages to pull on the heart strings and tickle the…

Ehm...I don't know what to say really....
This is the second time I've watched this and the first time I saw it, it was a three star film and one of my least favorite Pixar films. I for some reason was not taken by it, didn't find the story engaging and didn't like the look of it.
Now ten years later the film is the same, but I'm not.
See, sometimes you need to have a different perspective to appreciate the true value of any piece of art. I did not find what lies at the centre of this film ten years ago because it held no value to me. Now, having a family and a more experienced look on…

Probably the most creative movie I've ever seen.
A masterpiece.

It seems almost unfair that I have to write a review of such a masterpiece, and I could just delete this and log the film with nothing, but for once I want to try and attempt to describe why I think Monsters, Inc is such an amazing movie.
Monsters, Inc came smack bang right in the center of Pixar's most memorable and widely renowned work. Planted in between Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc has all the trademarks of the studio; striking originality, hilarious dialogue for all ages, and stunning visuals.
Seriously, I can't praise the animation highly enough. The world of Monstropolis is absoloutely brought to life, as are all the characters, from the cheery Abominable Snowman…

This is now my favorite Pixar film outside of the Toy Story trilogy. I think this may have broken my top 20 of all time, too. But at the same time, now I'm even less excited for Monsters University. Anyways...
This is one of the most entertaining animated films ever made, with consistently clever humor and a great underlying message that most kids movies don't seem to have. The voice cast is great, it's gorgeously animated, and it feels like an hour when it's 30 minutes longer than that in actuality. One exciting ride.

Re-released in 3D, this is one of the very best Pixar films. A prequel is due out later this year but it will have to work very hard to reach the heights of this brilliant original.

Monsters generate their city's power by scaring children, but they are terribly afraid themselves of being contaminated by children, so when one enters Monstropolis, top scarer Sulley finds his world disrupted.
