Mr. & Mrs. Smith
2005 Directed by Doug Liman
Synopsis
Marriage has gotten stale and predictable for John and Jane Smith, an average-on-the-surface husband and wife who don't yet know that they share the same undercover line of work: They're both guns for hire. Hiding their occupations has never been a hardship for either of them … until they discover that their next assignment involves them targeting each other. Can they go through with their respective missions, or will love prevail?

Film 11 for my December Challenge.
Okay, I admit it... I really like this film.
It's one of those films I can revisit over and over and still get a kick out of watching, thus it joins the ranks of "The Negotiator", "Road House", "I, Robot" and "Pay It Forward".
Yeah, I'm quite the saddo... so sue me. :)
I like the humour, I like the chemistry between the two main characters who, IMO, nail the "bored-with-our-marriage-and-mundane-lives" angle, I like the OTT action/fighting scenes between them... I just like everything about it for some reason.

The screenplay is definitely hit and miss due to some either uninteresting or cheesy dialogue, and the film is very predictable, but Mr. and Mrs. Smith is still a very fun, action-packed, and clever action film. Brad Pitt is great and very charismatic as John, and Angelina Jolie is very bad-ass and sexy as Jane. They both nail the chemistry between each other, as well as the great banter and that "we are so bored of our marriage" feeling. Vince Vaughan is a scene stealer as Pitt's best friend. The action scenes are a lot of fun and well filmed by director Doug Liman, although the shaky cam in them did get on my nerves after a while. The story…

A clichéd action flick even more in love with itself than the two leads are with themselves. Doug Liman can direct an action movie and The Bourne Identity proves this, but Mr. & Mrs. Smith is just a serious of forgettable explosions wrapped in a forgettable script.

The film that started the whole Brangelina thing? I cannot help but wonder why as there is not even the tiniest bit of on-screen chemistry there. Their incessant yapping and failed attempts at witty dialogue are unbelievably annoying.
A complete waste of time.

Surprisingly good. I enjoyed this a great deal. Brad & Ang have that rarest of elements: chemistry. It's a fun romp with some genuinely exciting action, and for once the Hollywood glean works. If this had been made 20 years ago, it'd have been a perfect Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner vehicle. Recommended.

this gets three stars because Angelina Jolie is like freaking hot, the film has it moments of comedy and action but it got a weak plot with no real conclusion, seriously i only watched for Angelina.

I always hesitate to grant a perfect rating right away, but if I'm still as high on them after some time and subsequent viewings, they get theextra bump. One of those flicks was Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
A perfect blend of action and comedy, it's exciting, fun, and original. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts, not only in terms of attraction, but also in their comedic moments and banter. Roles like these are why both are on my list of favorite actors.
...and for those of you turned off from this movie by all the off-screen publicity and scandal, or the tabloid overexposure of the stars - put that aside and just watch the film on its own merits. It's a blast, and had me smiling from beginning to end.

I love this movie entirely because of the tensions and Pitt and Jolie create. Seen it like 15 times and I fall in love all over every time.

Fun and action and impossible not to see that amazing chemistry that Pitt and Jolie have.

Avioparin normaalista poikkeavaa arkea. Jäissä olevaa suhdetta piristää kummasti työkeissi, jossa molemmat yrittää pamauttaa toisilleen kuulan sipuliin.
Vauhdikas toimintakomedia, kissa & hiiri -leikittelyllä, sortuu liialliseen lässynlässyyn.

I really liked this one. I liked Pitt's role and interactions with Jolie, as well as the odd humor mixed throughout.
