A washed up singer is given a couple days to compose a chart-topping hit for an aspiring teen sensation. Though he's never written a decent lyric in his life, he sparks with an offbeat younger woman with a flair for words.

Fun, lovely and overall just nice. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore make a cute couple, if a little dysfunctional at times, and together with Hayley Bennett make this a good soundtrack. Well worth a watch, especially if you want to see Hugh smack his head on a piano.

This movie had been sitting on my Watchlist for months, and I finally decided to give it a chance. Although I'm not very familiar with Hugh Grant or Marc Lawrence and I heard very mixed opinions about this movie, I figured that since I love romantic comedies Music and Lyrics would be pretty good.
For the most part, I was right. This film is like if the romantic elements of Forgetting Sarah Marshall were mixed with the musical elements of Get Him To The Greek. The melodies are perfectly in tune for the majority of this film (and the music rocks), the characters are fun and likable, and unlike Nicholas Stoller films, the content isn't overly vulgar. The plot is…

A good little piece of fluff even if the story isn't that great.

I don't know. I just love this movie. And I've watched it so many times already and I still love the story, the music, the jokes and the acting and the characters - even though it's so stereotypical. I can watch this movie one day and also the following day and the following day.. Whatever.

There are some decent moments but...it's not really that good.

Hugh Grant at his best comic self, great music, love and fun - what else do you need for a perfect rom-com.
Grant can't sing at all and I still can't get enough of him singing. Now how do you do that. (Don't Write Me Off & Love Autopsy!) -
Adorable fluff
Causes me to crush on Hugh -
He makes bad films good -

I can't help how happy this movie makes me feel. "POP goes my heart." Could do without Drew Barrymore, though..
