Film #5 of The December Project
Well, there isn't a lot to say about My Left Foot except that Daniel Day Lewis is a fucking genius. I mean my God, his performance is astounding! I grew up knowing someone with Cerebral Palsy, and she's one of the best and most beautiful people I've ever met. I really liked this movie because it reminded me of how blessed I've been in life and how people who have to deal with hardship can turn out to be some of the best amongst us. It's a very engaging film, so see it if you haven't seen it. I wish I hadn't waited so long!
One last random point: the bar brawl scene is hysterical. I had to rewind and watch it twice!

Shockingly poor form, but My Left Foot is only the second Day-Lewis film I've seen. I think. I mean, I might've seen Last of the Mohicans. I really can't remember.
It seems to be the done thing nowadays when watching any film featuring DDL to talk about his performance first and foremost. To get it out of the way, I'll just say that yes, he is very good in this. Absolutely deserves his Oscar. He provides genuine heart and emotion to a character that could so easily have just relied on schmaltz and lazy sob stories to create a false affecting core.
But the same could be said of practically everything to do with this film. The portrayal of working…

All the performances are pitch perfect, but Daniel Day Lewis gives a marvelous performance. He just commands the screen. The story is both uplifting and heartbreaking. It makes you appreciate what you have in life and try to drive yourself for bigger and better things. This is a beautifully crafted story of inspiration and hope for a better future.

Blood Sweat and Tears: My Experience Watching 'My Left Foot'
(But seriously: it's almost obscene how great of an actor Daniel Day-Lewis is.)I always forget how strangely nice of a sensation it is to smile and laugh while in the midst of uncontrollably sobbing one's eyes out [53:52] so thank you for reminding me of that simple joy while simultaneously breaking my heart into little pieces, Mr. Day-Lewis. You deserve the world.

Daniel Day Lewis is an amazing actor. If I could just rate him, I would give him a 5 out of 5!

Such a genuine film. There's no exaggeration here. Daniel Day-Lewis delivers a performance that cannot be lauded anymore than it already has. Knowing of his performance (and still blown away), I was surprised by Fricker's, who captured me with how quiet and reserved her character appeared to be, yet how strong and unyielding she proved to be as a mother and a woman. She demonstrates the true definition of what a mother should be. It's beautiful, humane, and just about perfect.

My Left Foot is indeed, a masterpeice. The acting is phenominal, and the story is driving. Daniel Day Lewis is a god. Truly, he is. Everything he does while being filmed is incredible, from his little head bobs, to the constant twitching or moans. I am blown away. The one thing that prevented me from giving it five out of five stars was the little humor. It seemed off-beat at some points, and sometimes pointless (I'm talking about the bar fight scene). Other than that, eveyrthing was pitch-perfect.
Acting-Incredible
Story- Incredible.Did I say Daniel Day Lewis is a God?

Kā filma man pilnīgi nesaistoša - pārāk paredzama un klasiski veidota. Ko grēks būtu teikt par Daniel Day-Lewis aktierspēli.
-
Spectacular performance by Daniel Day-Lewis. I cannot imagine having played the part he did. Story could get rather dull at moments, though.

"Aan het einde van de streep loont een film als deze meer dan de ‘ware-woensdagavond’ biopics die zichzelf ‘inspirerend’ noemen. Zeker voor fans van Daniel Day-Lewis niet te missen!"
-
One of the best films ever made and two of the greatest performances ever enacted on screen. No matter how many times I watch this, I feel extremely lucky, and a sense of pure awe and respect for the personality of Christy Brown.

"I've had nothing but platonic love all me life. Do you know what I say? Fuck Plato! Fuck all love that is not one hundred percent commitment!"
MY LEFT FOOT is the true journey of one man's search for love and acceptance. Tough enough to find for the typical person, Christy Brown must also overcome cerebral palsy and every obstacle that comes along with it in his search for happiness. Daniel Day Lewis is truly a tour-de-force of an actor, completely encapsulating his role as a spastic quadriplegic. With a triumphant cast that brings the characters of this story to life with a daring screenplay to act on, MY LEFT FOOT is truly a marvel of cinema and a delight to watch.
"Do you know what I was going to call it? The Reminiscences of a Mental Defective." "That's a terrible title." "It was my blue period."

Inspirational, a little dated but a great narrative with sublime acting from Daniel Day-Lewis, it would be an insult to cinema if he hadn't won the Oscar.

Daniel Day Lewis is great. The movie itself is just okay.

Pedestrian directing is overcome by phenomenal performances from Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker.
