Even though the opening credits list Tonino Valerii as a sole director, there were never any doubts that Sergio Leone contributed in a big way. After all, it was his idea and the movie more than often feels like one of his spaghetti westerns, but you might be surprised to learn which scenes he actually directed.
You see, My Name is Nobody was made at a time when comedy westerns were the only popular ones in spaghetti genre. Serious westerns were out of fashion; they were dying. The story itself pretty much mirrors that with a silly young hotshot taking over an ageing gunslinger who just wants to retire. So, in the end the movie is a strange mix of…

I can see why other people like this film a lot and it does have some good moments, but I would say it is mediocre at best. Henry Fonda is pretty decent, as always, but there are other things which I found didn't hold up their end of the bargain. For starters the score becomes irritating very quickly... here i am referring to the whistling score whenever "nobody" is on the screen. It completely removes any tension the film has built up in one fell swoop. On top of that I am not that impressed with Terence Hill. It is already obvious here that he has some comedic talent, but his portrayal of Nobody is too slapstick. This could have been such a great film and instead it is almost a spoof of itself.

When your movie opens with Henry Fonda forcing a man to shave him at gunpoint, there’s really nowhere to go but down. This one manages to remain pretty cool throughout, give or take Terence Hill’s incongruous slapstickery.

I dint really mind Sergio Leone's silly attempt at humor. It adds a strangeness and craziness to the title character even if it's not funny. The funniest thing about this movie though are the ridiculous bits of Morricine's score. The non silly parts if that score are really great and emotional.
Henry Fonda is a joy to watch and even here in his last western is the only Fonda worth a damn. Terrance Hill, is just goofy and psychotic!
This movie is a bit different from the more well known spaghetti westerns and I appreciate that.

Such a silly fun western. The whole movie has a levity to it that feels like it was intended for children. The music ranges from beautiful to ludicrous. Alot of fun.

Leone directed this, Leone directed that... Doesn't matter really. It's a fun ride and a kiss off to the genre. If like me you grew up watching Hill/Spencer flicks this one is great as Henry Fonda (in his last Western) plays the straight man perfectly.
Oft considered a "circus" western I think it stands up as one of the last really good Spaghetti's. -
Mixed feelings on this one, as it is well-made and I appreciate the themes about legends and change, I only wish the dopey comedy angle had been played down or eliminated entirely.

A whole movie to make a pun?... Eh, it happens. I dunno if it's just my version, but the sound effects are absolutely horrible. The guys responsible should be sacked... And dumped in the harbor.
