My Stepmother is an Alien
Man's closest encounter
An alien is sent on a secret mission to Earth, where she appears as a gorgeous, attractive, and single lady. Her mission is to make contact with a rather nerdy young scientist, who's quite overwhelmed by her attentions, and isn't aware of the connection between her arrival and his work.
Ridiculous movie. It tries way too hard to be funny, and then wont stop trying until you're embarrassed to be watching it. I like the actors, but they shouldn't have agreed to do this movie. It's much too goofy for its own good. I don't recommend it.
Not a review as such, but notable for me in that this was the movie I saw on my first ever date. The relationship did not last.
"Haben Sie etwas Spinat? Meine Hände frieren so!"
Boy, it had been a long time since I last saw this when I stumbled across it over the weekend. Not as bad as I had remembered, but it sure looks dated in the humor and it was a shock to see a thin Dan Aykroyd... It had also been a long time since I had seen Jon Lovitz.
1.5 out of 5 (C-)
This and Caddyshack II possibly rank as Dan Akroyd's worst films. The dialogue is horrible. The acting is a bit wooden. This came out the year I was brought into the world.
Kind of cheesy, and not very funny, but still fun.
Thing that makes this film work is the chemistry between Ackroyd and Basinger. You wouldn't think they would have any but they do.
Hannigan's character is an annoying little s*** though.
