My Stepmother is an Alien
Man's closest encounter
An alien is sent on a secret mission to Earth, where she appears as a gorgeous, attractive, and single lady. Her mission is to make contact with a rather nerdy young scientist, who's quite overwhelmed by her attentions, and isn't aware of the connection between her arrival and his work.
1.5 out of 5 (C-)
This and Caddyshack II possibly rank as Dan Akroyd's worst films. The dialogue is horrible. The acting is a bit wooden. This came out the year I was brought into the world.
Kind of cheesy, and not very funny, but still fun.
Thing that makes this film work is the chemistry between Ackroyd and Basinger. You wouldn't think they would have any but they do.
Hannigan's character is an annoying little s*** though.
Daft and fun enough. Got the great 80s feel to it.
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Thanks to this movie I have realized that Dan Aykroyd is just not that funny . He usually in his best roles plays the stiff against whatever much funnier person he is with . Also Kim Basinger is just not that fun as a clueless alien . This movie also has young versions of Alyson Hannigan,Seth Green,Juliette Lewis and that one girl who was always the best friend on My Two Dads .
Daft, fluffy fun with an oddly freaky finale involving an evil giant alien eyeball. And a young Willow from Buffy. Yum.
