I've always intended on getting around to watching the TV show but the DVD's are ridiculously expensive and hard to come by. There's a lot of episodes on YouTube but not sure I can put up with the low quality. Anyway, checked on Netflix and while no sign of the show itself, I did find the movie. As good a place to start as any I suppose.
The basic concept of the show is a winner. Everybody loves laughing at bad films and the guys that do the commentary here are very funny. I'd already done 3 or 4 proper belly laughs during the opening credits, and the pace really didn't drop all the way throughout. I probably could've done without the couple of scenes that interrupted the movie but they were still humorous, although nowhere near as good as the commentary.
Will have to get around to watching the show soon now.

There’s not a lot to say about something like MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE. It’s just a good, fun, funny movie. I loved this show and this movie when I was a kid and it all holds up just as well now.
Although, I have no idea why they decided to make a movie out of MST3K, other than the obvious cash grab. The whole thing is essentially an HD episode of the show and not much else. There may have been 1 or 2 new sets but I think even a regular TV episode was longer than the movie’s 80 minute runtime. Plus, as good as this movie and its commentary on This Island Earthis, I still prefer Manos: the Hands of Fate.
But none of that matters. This is a funny movie and you should watch it. And just for shits and gigs, you should watch this clip of 1 joke from every episode.

Has there ever been a movie that is more relateable then Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie? Lets face it we have all found ourselves watching terrible movie for one reason or another with friends and without fail we all make fun of these awful movies all throughout.
This movie is of course based off of the TV series of the same name which may just be one of the greatest TV shows of all time. The movie follows the exact same formula as the TV series and really there is no real difference. If you liked the TV show then you will like the movie. Hmmm.... actually scratch that, you can't just like Mystery Science Theater 3000 anyone who…

It is both really funny and incredibly lame during certain segments. But the most part very enjoyable.

Back when I was married, my wife never saw the appeal of MST3K. Then one night I convinced her to watch this movie. She laughed until she was afraid she was going to pee herself. It's great fun.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 (or MST3K), is one of those shows that you have probably stumbled across late at night in the godforsaken outer rim of digital or cable television channels, and either carried on surfing as quickly as your thumbs would carry you or stopped for a while to figure out what in the known universe is going on. If you are a sci-fi inclined stoner, you probably carried on watching it until dawn.
The show started in the late 80s and took a leaf from the book of the laserdiscs riffing on the newly born concept of the audio commentary. The set up is thus; Mike Nelson has been marooned on an orbiting space craft by an evil…

It was on in the background as I was doing something else, but I stopped doing that something else after 10 minutes because this still really is one of the funniest episodes, even if the MST3K guys themselves hate it. They have to freedom to swear, but you only get one "Shit!" and it's from Tom Servo, so it works. They don't over do it.
Normal view. Normal view! Normal VIEW! NORMAL VIEW! NORMAL VIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!

Worthwhile at least to take the air out of This Island Earth's tires.
It wouldn't be an outstanding episode and it doesn't do a huge amount with a bigger budget and screen, but it ends on the right note.

I am a huge huge huge fan of MST3K. One of my first memories is playing with blocks in the living room while my parents were laughing their asses off to the episode "Colossus vs. the Headhunters." Fast forward, I was about 9 when I found out my local blockbuster had this movie for rental and I was hyped beyond belief for it. I'd already been a pretty big fan at this point, with dozens of taped episodes on VHS and a few bought from the internet and I expected this to be the riffing to end all riffing. And then I saw it. Honestly, its okay. Its really not the best that MST3K has to offer. Its just slightly…

I loved watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, so the movie was a no brainer. If you like the show, you'll like the movie.
