this movie answers the question that nobody asked: what if an entire movie was a montage?
Viisi tähteä on jo liki pakko antaa kohtauksesta, jossa Mikko Koukin näyttelemä, aiemmassa suhteessaan bodysheimattu isä haukkuu poikansa hampurilaisen syönnin johdosta.
i always like stuff with a wide cast of characters & any movie from a kid's pov captivates me. other than those 2 attributes i didn't rly get anything out of this film though. i didn't think the themes rly came thru & the whole thing felt like misery porn. like, if there was only one main character and their life was shit, that'd be fine! but when there are like a dozen ppl and they're all living in hell, that's just not interesting or well-balanced anymore. a couple of the endings were happy-ish, sure, but that didn't seem to have any kind of logic or message behind it either. plus some of the characters were clearly more thought out than others…
Some Finnish cinema. I expected it to be much worse. Levottomat is still the director's best film, it was such an erotic tale and came over two decades ago.
Liked the idea, but it didn't connect with the screenplay, especially the dialogue was hard to enjoy.
”What if I remake Paha maa with east Helsinki vibes?” This must’ve been in the heads of screenwriters. Vuosaari is a nice place to live, but the film is again Louhimies’ way of showing he knows only how to direct sorrowful characters. Also his speciality of include only meaningful/complex male characters and leave others without any motive or sympathy is here.
I understand really well why Pilke stopped acting after this, her character has totally unnescessary full frontal with the porn clip scene.
Non-linear undiluted montage of love seeking harbours. Splendit editing, directing, acting and cinematography.
