One of my favorite spoof films. WAY too underrated. Great cast (which includes one of my favorite cameos by a particular action star) and even some clever and hilarious jokes and sight gags. I'd put this up there with the likes of Airplane, Kentucky Fried Movie, and Naked Gun.

Loaded Weapon 1 was made in 1993, yet it feels like an 80s film while at the same time feeling really dated. There are multiple aspects that plague this movie, though it still holds on to some of the charm that its all-star cast brings. Loaded Weapon 1 tells the story of two L.A. cops, Colt and Luger (Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson) investigating the murder of an ex-detective (Whoopi Goldberg). The two search for a drug dealer (William Shatner) who is selling through girl scout cookies.
With all spoof movies there's at least one film that the spoof is drawing from, and with Loaded Weapon 1 it's clearly Lethal Weapon. I've never seen any of the Lethal Weapon…

Funny, better then expected but still not the funniest National Lampoon. Emilio and Sam are funny together but sometimes the movie loses humour through bad jokes and timing.

OK, I readily admit that this movie isn't very good. But it's hilarious as a kid, and even as an adult it still has a good amount of absurd laughs. It could have been better, but it's a masterpiece when compared to what counts as a spoof film these days. Also, it has one of my favorite random exchanges:
"Luger! What's wrong?"
"Nothin'....just takin' a shit." -
The jokes are hit or miss, mostly hit. It's a basic rip on Lethal Weapon. Estevez and Jackson are perfect. Like take the toilet bomb bit from LW2. They do it here and when Estevez comes rushing into the bathroom and asks, 'What's wrong?' Jackson replies, 'Nothing...just taking a sh*t.' I personally love most of the humor.
Nearly all the supporting cast are giant names, and they are all great at what they put into it. I actually loved the beach cameo the most!!! I think it makes it funnier that you can literally see Estevez laughing at the jokes in a few scenes.

The poster made me want to see this film. The whole cast is just men of many talents.

Sequel.

Over-stuffed with dated action-movie-reference gags, Loaded Weapon 1 nevertheless does have some laughs. It tries to be a Naked Gun-type entry, but relies too much on Lethal Weapon-Die Hard-Fatal Attraction and other references, and not enough on humor that simply stands up on its own. Emilio Estevez doesn't bring much to the table here either, but Sam Jackson is pretty good and they have a surprising amount of cameos from stars of the era.
This was an iPad-watch while on a cross-Pacific flight, and this was a perfect venue for the movie. You wouldn't want to sit down and actually dedicate quality viewing time to it, but it's not a bad way to kill time when you have nothing else to do.

This movie is loaded in the same way a diaper is loaded. With shit. But it also has its moment, like how the shit has the corn in it.
