The best thing the movie had going for it was that I passed out 1/3 through

I'M GOING TO KIDNAP THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. God, I love these movies.

Though larger than its predecessor, it's noticeably weaker. There's a whole conspiracy angle that doesn't go anywhere. It's left behind when the film decides to go ahead and repeat NATIONAL TREASURE again almost beat-by-beat.

I actually like the first one, this one is less clever, more goofy.

This is a sequel that is the same as the original but a totally different film, I am totally unsure how I feel about these films. They are great fun and enjoyable action adventures, there is the issue that the first film has an ending that the start of the second has to destroy to allow the story to progress and it always annoys me as I like people to be happy.
The film itself is okay there is so many steps of weirdness and really would they get away with that? I doubt it but as long as you can switch your brain off and just go with what Nicholas Cage has to do to complete the mission and save the day.
I hope there are no more of these films but this is a 3 star film if you can switch your brain off and suspend your disbelief.

Not the original. Still decent.

Some great action and superb pace and an interesting story with the same gang as the first but it doesn’t reach the same level as the first of getting the watcher to care about the quest. Mirren is a welcome addition and does fantastic work here opposite Voight.

Essentially the same film as National Treasure. Same characters, same ideas, same action, same everything, except with the addition of a villain whose inconsistent motivations appear to make no sense. At least Sean Bean's baddie in the first film was just after the money. Ed Harris' character here? I have no idea.
Since the central premise is that this time Ben Gates (Cage) is trying to clear an ancestor's name, the conclusion also makes no sense - because as far as I can tell, what they find at the end goes no way towards proving that he wasn't involved in the Lincoln assassination plot.
Still, I enjoyed it.
