Cannon-esque, second-wave cyberpunk shoot 'em up from Albert Pyun, the wizard behind Cyborg, Vicious Lips, the Captain America movie with the Italian Red Skull, and a whole host of other crap that I'm sure to get around to before long because I've apparently run out of good movies to watch. It was a vehicle for French kickboxing heartthrob Olivier Gruner, back in a time when beefy action stars with martial arts backgrounds were promoted to fill the "B" movie void left when the Van Dammes and Seagals graduated to wide releases. The idea being that there were dues to pay before they'd get their shot, too. That is, before studio execs wised up and decided putting actual actors in the…

Very odd Albert Pyun effort about cyborgs, gangs, robots or some other complicated sci-fi backstory that’s basically a gunfire and explosion delivery system. It’s really a Terminator rip-off about some kind of rogue cop in a future where people are so robotic it takes hundreds of bullets to kill him, resulting in gloriously stupid shootout scenes where thousands of rounds are shot.

Sci-fi B movie classic! Sure it rips off it's fair share of sci-fi flicks (Terminator, Westworld) and yes, it debuted Olivier Gruner ONLY because JCVD dropped out last minute, but the action and the premise was a cut above most direct to DVD flicks--- Alex Rain is an ex-cop/ex-con/mercenary whose cyborg enhancements make him the perfect choice in stopping machines from taking over the world! Among the best of the Imperial Entertainment roster of the early 90's!

The film's story felt like it could've been used as a sequel for Blade Runner. Interesting concept with traces of The Terminator and Robocop but done in an uninteresting way. The story was told with bland characters though a lot of its action and special effects are competently handled. Has a really cool stop animated fight sequence at the end with a skeletal cyborg. For fans of this film, Steve Wang's DRIVE (1997), Hardware, Class Of 1999 and I Come In Peace are recommended.

Early 90's B grade action sci fi film, that has its moments. It's full of one liners, tons of explosions and lots of crazy gun fights. Even back then they were stealing ideas from other films but here I can see movies like The Matrix pay homage to it with how the robots look. Heck, there's even a claymation sequence, I guess they couldn't pull the scene off so they had to do it that way. It's a fun film, nothing more.

It's incredibly hard to describe the plot to this movie as it's insanely complicated. I've seen it at least fifty times (it's probably more than that) and I'm still not sure I completely understand it. But it's a thrill a minute low budget B-movie extravaganza starring the great Olivier Gruner as a sort of cyborg cop battling other cyborgs or some such (again, it's very difficult to describe what the heck this movie is all about). The action is insane and non-stop. The opening bit, the section where Gruner's Rain shoots through the floor, and the low budget "Terminator" homage at the end are just three of the best bits. Tim Thomerson shows up, as does the great Brion James, along with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Thomas Jane, and the Thom Mathews. One of director Albert Pyun's best.

Insanely stupid -- yet totally amusing -- slice of action cheese from Albert Pyun is full of over-the-top 90s action. It's Terminator meets Robocop meets Pyun's Cyborg meets... well you get the idea. Convoluted plot and horrible acting abound.
