This one of the better Jackie Chan-films I have seen so far, as it takes it self slightly more serious than most. Still there is some silly humor I don't like, but it's not too much really.
Being a Chan film, there are some great fight-scenes and impressive stunts, but the plot is also pretty decent. Slightly too over-the-top bad-guys though. Fairly brutal at times also.

If you have only experienced the Hollywood adventures of Mr Jackie Chan, then you owe it to yourself to seek out his Hong Kong work, and an apt place to start is with the Police Story films. This sequel/ reboot sees Chan defy his age, as he performs some jaw dropping stunts and martial arts choreography like he was a spry 20 year old. His persistence to be taken seriously as an actor means after every other scene he attempts a crying scene, but stick with it and you will see plenty of the balletic, comedic action that made us all fall in love with Chan. The plot is awesome, as Chan takes on a group of bored rich teens…

Pretty good Hong Kong comeback for Jackie. And more stunts than his U.S. stuff.

After watching this, one wonders whether it's time for Jackie to hang up his gloves. The stunts are still pretty cool, but his fight scenes lack a lot of the impact and speed they used to have. And in an annoying development, he's now really emotional over the loss of some of his cop mates and seems to spend most of the film crying! In this "reimagining" (yawn) of the series, there's more blood and violence but a hell of a lot less fun too. The story concerns a gang of kids who stage robberies just so they can shoot it out with cops afterwards and earn points by blowing up cars etc. Very PlayStation. I had this sitting on…

Surprisingly good entry in the Police Story franchise. Smartly done and manages to freshen things up. Perceptive enough to appreciate that Chan is getting older and introduces a nice old-new theme into the narrative. Tse is actually pretty good here as a foil for Chan's character.

Probably Chan's last great action film (although, by all accounts the upcoming "Armor Of God 3" will be pretty spectacular).
The story is actually quite serious, and deals with Chan's policeman character becoming a hopeless drunk after losing all of his squad to a group of ruthless cop-killers. There are a few lighthearted moments throughout the film, but for the most part it's pretty straight faced.
Although there are action scenes interspersed throughout the film, the really good stuff is saved for the final reel. The fight in the Lego store is classic Chan.

A very exciting mix. Martial Arts scenes are few and far between what other MA-Movies deliver, while the focus is much more on emotion and plot. And that, I like. While former may be a little over the top some times, if you consider most MA-Movies plots like that of porn, only there to drive the action/sex forward, then „New Police Story“ is told really solid and the atmosphere is great as well, so 4 instead of 3,5. Also, Jackie Chan.
