Real people in real sitations, but not a documentary. A sad and inspirational story about some guys who try to be someone.
I think it reflects the desperation of a nation, not just a group of musicians. Interestingly, all restrictions and violence have creative minds that attempt against the system, religion and customs of a society that is slowly becoming a garbage more than it already is.
in that part of the world, music piracy is very valid, because there is no other way to transcend or get away from the place of origin without breaking the law.

So many people have insinuated that a rise in music piracy would lead to the death of a music industry. Of course, people have always made music, sometimes for no money. These youths in Iran not only make no money on their music, they spend a lot and literally risk their lives to do it.
It might be difficult in America to even understand what it must be like to risk imprisonment or death in order to play some music. This film showcases the efforts of several bands (in several genres) to merely exist, with little hope of ever reaching more than a few hundred listeners.
The movie is not a documentary, but most of the footage is of real…

Stark, depressing film about the lengths musicians go to in order to practise and play music that isn't sanctioned by the State in Iran. In the style of Italian Neorealism, this is an intelligent piece, but definitely not a film designed to cheer up the viewer if one is having a bad day.
