Reviews of Out of Sight 1998

Slick and stylish with class to burn. One of the best looking movies I've seen in a long time. It ticks almost all my boxes.

If you can get past the presence of Lopez (she was a bit more tolerable in the 90s), then it's a pretty decent flick. Love Clooney and Cheadle in it.

So, I think I'm going to admit here that as much as I love reading Elmore Leonard, I think I love film or tv adaptations, or at least film or tv in the same style as, his work. Something about the dialogue style just translates better to me when it's acted well and in the service of a great piece of genre. Not too hot, not too cool

Good pacing, good writing, good direction, good performances. Good movie.

Clooney is the man.
And Steven Soderbergh can make one hell of an entertaining film.

Though often under duress (being abducted or held at gun point), all the women in this movie are unusually calm.

Superior crime thriller starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez. Smooth talking prolific bank robber Jack Foley (Clooney) crosses paths with tough federal agent Karen Sisco (Lopez) while breaking out of prison. He and his accomplice Buddy (Ving Rhames) overpower her and they are driven to freedom – but are locked in the boot together. Sharing such a confined space for hours they develop an unlikely attraction both are unwilling to admit. Parting company, Karen is tasked with capturing Jack and…

A very fun action movie, didn't know it was from Soderberg, but after watching it, it really makes sense. As usual I love Clooney, and the movie has a fun tone and a great rhythm.

Soderbergh wisely keeps the focus on the characters, their smokin' chemistry, and that snappy dialogue. "I already stole it, a week ago!"

I feel like this movie doesn't get talked about enough: it is near perfection. Fun, funny, tense and exciting - so many great performances, so many great lines. One of George Clooney's best roles and actually makes me sad that Jennifer Lopez's career turned out the way it did. If she'd continued making movies like this, she would've been incredible.

Quite enjoyable again.
