The Parasnoral Inactivity series is one I've always had a huge dislike for, but even knowing that I hated the first and third installment in this numbing franchise, and frankly I should've known better than to watch this one, nothing could've prepared me for what is easily the worst of the series so far and the worst Found Footage film I have seen. While the other two were boring, cheaply and lazily made, they at least had one or maybe even two moments that were slightly interesting. This on the other hand is just boring, cheaply and lazily made, as well as completely uninventive and it seems as if they didn't even try to masquerade the fact that it is…

OK, seriously, someone explain the appeal of these movies to me? I just don't get it. I mean, nothing happens. For the first hour or so NOTHING FUCKING HAPPENS. A slight knock here or a bit of a shadow there. A kid cries and a dog barks. OH LOOK, SOME PANS ARE RATTLING. HOW FUCKING TERRIFYING.
The reasoning for fitting security cameras at least made some sense as to why they'd have footage of all this nothing, but why the fuck where they filming their boring lives where nothing happens at all with handheld cameras ALL THE FUCKING TIME?
I honestly don't know why I watched this (although I was reading The Walking Dead at the same time so I…

*REVIEW UPDATE *
Saw it last night. Couldn't sleep. Was convinced there were demons in my house. Woke up, added a star. Damn these films!
* end of update *
Not even remotely as scary as the first one ( review is here ) and has a severe amount of problems.I'll start with the good bits. I thought the tie in to the first film was actually pretty clever and there are two unbelievably creepy scenes in it.
And that's it.
The rest felt like a boring re-hash of the first film with the added, by now, classic found footage problem. There at points just simply is no reason for the camera to be on and that is unbelievably…

The dog was great in this. Barking at doorways, making whiny noises at the creepy shadows and basically looking confused on cue, until that poor hound, stepped up and tackled a poltergeist or something.
Anyway I did learn that dogs are friendlier than spooks, and I will probably watch paranormal 3 and 4 just because the first two films did have some creepy moments...... ......... ............BANG! ........er? who the fuck slammed the door upstairs?......I'm off to take a look, if I'm not back in 5 minutes....you know what to do.

I don't understand why this film is so much lower rated than the first one in a lot of places. If you liked the first one you should like this one.

It took them three years to realize they could just churn out new paranormal activities every year with low cost high income, somehow Peli was smart enough to set-up sequels and prequels in the first film by creating ambiguous and intriguing background stories to the characters. I'm not sure if this was good foresight or just pure luck.
You know that scene in Signs where Mel Gibson sees a shadow on the opposing rooftop or when he sees a leg sticking out from a wheat field? This series could really use moments like that. There are no memorable moments that stand out in these films or remotely stick with you after finishing. Unless you count ''AT FIRST HE PRETENDED TO…

Rehash of first film + dog + baby = lackluster ghost movie.

The tone is still very good even though it goes on for a bit too long, it was just about to lose me at some point. I like that it's connected to the first one so much, it gives it a deeper feel. Same as the last one I really liked the small conversations between the characters which feel well developed. One big issue I had is that the main actress is well known, which really works against a found footage movie.

When their home is ransacked, the Rey family (Sprague Grayden, Brian Boland, and Molly Ephraim) installs a security system with video cameras in every part of the house just in time to capture the paranormal events centering on their young son, Hunter.
I love the shaky-cam, docudrama genre, and I enjoyed the first film, but this one fumbled the ball. It's not a complete disaster; the way its story dovetails with the plot of the first is quite clever. Unfortunately, this one is too much foreplay without enough payoff. It also stretches credibility too much at times in order to put certain events on screen; I don't think a teenage girl would talk into a camera the way this one…

This film begins a few months before the events of the first installment, and centres around the family of Katie’s sister. After they experience what appears to be a break-in, they install security cameras all over their home, and begin to have strange, disturbing experiences.
The movie suffers a bit from sequilitis. The dread-building methods it recycles from the first one still work, but to a lesser degree. The first film also benefited from taking place predominantly in a bedroom, a place of safety and intimacy being invaded. This one features more locations (within the home), which serves to diffuse the fear somewhat. The story is married to the first movie’s in a way that’s smart, but too neat. There…

1 star for cute actresses. everything else is too predictable for a too long film.

A film which finally highlights the frightening elements of cabinets! Obviously there are some silly moments but I actually think it's worth a watch if you enjoyed the first film. I like the way these events inform what happened in its predecessor and there are a few sequences that are cool on their own.
