Pink Floyd The Wall
1982 Directed by Alan Parker
Synopsis
The Memories. The Madness. The Music... The Movie.
The life of the fictional rock star 'Pink' is the subject of the visually evocative cult film based upon the music and visions of the group Pink Floyd as portrayed in the album of the same title. Relationships, drug abuse, sex, childhood, WWII and fascism combine in a disturbing mix of episodic live action and lyrical animation drawn by British caricaturist Gerald Scarfe.

I waited a long time to watch this with the right person. I knew I was going to love it - I've been a massive fan of Pink Floyd for ages - but I wanted to share it with someone who would really get it.
When I mentioned to my wife that I hadn't seen it yet (despite having owned the DVD since long before I met her), she immediately turned off the lights and urged me to put in the DVD and crank up the volume. We curled up on the couch and gave ourselves over to the ear-splitting existential art - I didn't know my sound system could go that loud! The neighbours actually moved out this weekend,…

This is not simply a film; this is a sensory experience beyond description. As a Pink Floyd fan, two things occurred to me while watching: 1) rarely are images and music used together like this to such mindblowing effect, and 2) why the fuck has it taken me so long to see this film.

Te gustará en la medida en que te guste la música y las letras del álbum de Pink Floyd. En cualquier caso, tendrás que reconocer que como adaptación cinematográfica del discurso poético de un disco de rock es una obra absolutamente ejemplar.
You'll be pleased to the extent that you like the music and lyrics of Pink Floyd's album. In any case, you have to admit that as a film adaptation of the poetic discourse of a rock album is an absolutely exemplary work.

Like everyone else who was a teenager in 1982 I've seen bits of The Wall, but I am very late to seeing the whole film. It would probably have looked and sounded better on the big screen than a youtube video, but there was still a lot to like about what I saw and heard. I'll now have to go and read up about the film and will then probably need to add it to my 'watch again' list!

I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd and one of their best albums The Wall so naturally I would love this beautiful rock opera. Not just the music I love, i also really enjoy the cinematography. The visuals are fantastic and beautifully reflect Pink's decent into madness. Which brings me into my next point, for a movie with 0 lines of dialogue the story is phenomenal (I guess that shows off Roger Water's song writing capabilities). The album is fantastic and the movie is even better. This is one of my favorites all time and highly recommend to any fan of Pink Floyd and just the casual movie goer.

Pink Floyd The Wall is a fascinating movie, exploring both the wider issues of education, companionship and emotional collapse, and Roger Waters' own personal bugbears of his dead father, overbearing mother and difficult life as a touring rock star. The unconventional narrative style and gorgeously disturbing animated sequences help add the edge that prevents this film from slipping into boredom.
