As an observer, the plot never reached a climax; had an interesting story line but never really went anywhere.

Marcia Gay Harden deserved that oscar. This was painful to watch for the obvious alcohol-y reasons, but a good script, and despite the sometimes lo-fi aesthetics this was a really good film about a visual artist.

@Camdun_Roar: Ed Harris is always a pleasure to watch, but Marcia Gay Harden was the real breakout. No wonder she won the Oscar. 8.25/10

An admiring look at a troubled but brilliant painter, Pollock was Ed Harris' passion project and it shows in the direction and his performance. Marcia Gay Harden almost steals the whole film with her turn as Lee Krasner.

Average biopic about abstract expressionist alcoholic manic depressive artist Jackson Pollock. Worth watching for the performances by Ed Harris and Marcia Gay Harden.

Utterly conventional biopic.

I was forced to set my DVD player to 2X and watch this with CC on, the pacing was so damn slow.

I know almost nothing about visual art so this biopic about the modern artist Jackson Pollock was interesting to me. According to the movie, Pollock was a troubled figure and it was his wife and fellow artist Lee Krasner who helped keep him painting. Krasner, played by Marcia Gay Harden, is the standout character in this film. Harden won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work, and indeed, Krasner pretty much defines the term "supporting." Her fierce belief in Pollock's talent drives his career; she's part public relations manager and part babysitter as she attempts to keep the volatile, alcoholic Pollock in a fit state to work.

I am very interested in art. So I was fascinated by this movie. It was a good movie. Really weird ending though. I'm tired, don't feel like writing in great detail. It was a movie about Pollock. Ed Harris was great. There were a lot of pretty pictures. A lot of awful screaming. What more do you want.

Ed Harris and Marcia Gay Harden are both excellent here. A good film, with a nice supporting cast.
