Synopsis
A saga centered on a multi-generational family of New York City Police officers. The family's moral codes are tested when Ray Tierney, investigates a case that reveals an incendiary police corruption scandal involving his own brother-in-law. For Ray, the truth is revelatory, a Pandora's Box that threatens to upend not only the Tierney legacy but the entire NYPD.

It's a perfectly respectable premise, but it's undone by its choice of focus. We're given an omniscient perspective that precludes any mystery or investigation elements, and since the dialogue is more personal than professional, we don't get a sense of the everyday working conditions of the police force. The film bets the farm on character-driven drama, and can't back it up. The acting and writing aren't bad, they're just not enough to hold their own for two very dense hours, and the drama never quite reaches the requisite fever pitch. The explosive climax in particular doesn't feel earned, and for such a morally ambiguous film there isn't much examination of values or tortured soul-searching. The film has a solid foundation, but it's like there are pieces missing, leaving it a shadow if its potential, and frankly, dull.

The meltdown of a corruption plot within the NYPD is told through the perspective of one family, in director Gavin O’Connor’s severely underrated ‘Pride and Glory’. At the heart of it we have Colin Farrell (the corrupt one) and Edward Norton (the straight one), both on the search for a murderer, but both for entirely different reasons.
I remember seeing this film at the cinema years ago. I liked it then, but I loved it now. Brilliantly choreographed, really well acted, and a fun storyline that I was always engaged in. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong. I really want to rate this movie higher, but the industry has just been filled with cop dramas the past few years and all of them really melt together after awhile. I couldn't help but think this was Street Kings put together with We Own The Night, but with actual acting. I think Norton, Voight and Farrell were all pretty good. Other than that, it's nothing special.

Almost average corrupt cop drama. The director, Gavin O'Connor, also directed the film "Warrior" and like that, "Pride And Glory" centres on the relationship between brothers. That however, does not mean it explores that dynamic with any real creativity or power.

Det å sitte på altanen sommerstid her i Trøgstad med en kald en i hånda og kjøtt på grillen mens purken setter i gang et megarabalder for å ta en mopedist som KANSKJE har et påmontert trimsett har blitt en årlig tradisjon for undertegnede som også har sansen for utenlandske politifilmer som viser en litt mer brutal virkelighet enn hva vi har her i Trøgstad. Pride and Glory skulle imidlertid vise å seg bli noe uventet til tross for min erfaring med Trøxas-purkene.
Det er vel strengt tatt ingen som med hånda på hjertet kan beskylde amerikanerne for å ikke glorifisere seg selv så fort de får anledningen og disse politithrillerne har slettes ikke vært noe unntak. Den ene mer… -
