Prom
2011 Directed by Joe Nussbaum
Synopsis
There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one prom.
At “Prom,” every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. As the big dance approaches for Nova Prescott, it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei and Tyler harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events.

I grabbed this one mostly because of Aimee Teegarden and Kylie Bunbury, aside from the fact that the generic plot seemed really vague and was ripe for cliches and tropes. That said, this film contained exactly those things. It was predictable from the very beginning, all the way down to the father/guy friend talk. I was surprised to see DeVaughn Nixon and Cameron Monaghan, and contrary to the boring, uninspired plot/writing the character portrayals were all pretty well done. That isn't much to say, though, since these characters have all been done so many times before I'm sure they're taught in some amateur acting class somewhere. All in all it was fun, gives up a few laughs and a few moments that would be touching if they weren't so typical.

Kind of like the TRAFFIC of Disney films, story-lines going all over the place. Pretty cliched at times, but lead Aimee Teegarden is so adorable she makes it watchable. Some good music too! Kind of funny to see Christine Elise in a movie when I just met her a few weeks ago!

"That dumb blonde with the big tits (reference from Scream 4, lol) = Aimee Teegarden (mostly known from Friday Night Lights series) who's so damn pretty gives a breakout performance here in her second shot at the big Screen after her not-so-good role small role in Scream 4 where she was not that good but makes up for it in this. Prom was different than I expected, it was cheesy, predictable and some good laughs but it was more serious & dramatic that I never expected to be."
"Some of the "serious" scenes dragged a bit but thankfully there were a few characters that were funny & interesting to look at. Lloyd played very well by Nicholas Braun was easily the best…

Cute movie.

A film about people who take prom way too seriously.

Prom is a good-hearted, watchable movie about adolescents with little on their minds besides who will ask or be asked to graduation night.

Spent the entire running time thinking this guy looks like Johnny Depp only to discover he plays a young Johnny in upcoming Dark Shadows ... I am amazing.

Boring. Uninteresting characters in a very familiar situation. I can see the appeal of re-hashing the 80s teen movies that have become so iconic but this is nowhere in the ballpark of say, Sixteen Candles. Completely forgettable.
