While not the ground breaking or revolutionary Sci-Fi film many hoped it would be, Prometheus was a very entertaining and beautiful film. I did have some issues with the direction the film took towards the end, but it never hampered my enjoyment.

My god, what is happening with film today? I'm truly at a loss when a director with a history of some of the most intelligent, awe-inspiring and thought-provoking films in history resorting to such shallow and unbelievable storytelling as this.

With outstanding visuals and strong acting, it’s a shame that Prometheus is let down by a poorly constructed plot, and functions as more of a set-up than a complete sci-fi epic. Guess we’ll have to wait for the inevitable sequels for some answers…

I think Prometheus got a bad wrap straight out of the gate due to some bold expectations of which I never had; I really loved most of the film and enjoyed all of the throwbacks (throwforwards?) to Alien.

Following the successes of previous Alien films (the first two at the very least) this prequel had a lot to live up to. And the promise of telling us how and where the Alien originated was really quite an exciting one.

Prometheus, however, delivers a mess of a story that doesn't really have enough depth to be able to make it convincing. I wasn't really bothered by the fact that there are more questions raised, it didn't need to spell…

Excellent movie. Never saw all of Alien though, which may have made it better. Edge of my seat the whole time.

Rewatch, liked it a bit more the second time. Look, it's a mess narratively, it doesn't make any sense, some of the performances are poor, but it looks amazing. Not a good film, a terrible alien film, but a triumph of production design.

    Looks aren't everything...

Better than I remember but where's the rationality? The actual tense horror? The sheer quality of the originals?

Recommended?: if you don't mind the new-age of dumb sci-fi/action horror rather than the classics that didn't treat us all like idiots.

The story is riddled with plot holes, from the map specialist that gets lost, to the hyper rational cyborg doing irrational things. So it turns out that the creators of the aliens were also our creators and Jesus was one of them... ok, unnecessary, but ok, I can see past that. Then we crucify Jesus, they get pissed off, decide to destroy us, and in the process, they destroy themselves. Why? Why add all this extra weight behind it?

I wish they spent more time talking and less time actioning. There's some interesting stuff in here but they just very briefly touch on anything I want to hear more about. Fun to watch though!
