"Ben, I once killed a man's wife to get him to take a job! Want to hear about it?"
Pursued is a direct-to-DVD action/suspense/thriller starring Christian Slater as a twisted corporate headhunter who will stop at nothing to get who or what he wants. Slater earns his bread and butter quite easily, he was simply born to play these kinds of roles.
The movie borrows heavily from Cape Fear and Fatal Attraction, might as well borrow from the best, right? It's predictable but only because we've all seen these kinds of movies before. I enjoyed it, a definite step up from what I was expecting.
The movie's opening shot showcases two of Vancouver's more famous buildings at night, and then the screen reads "Chicago." This was amusing to me.
I have a weakness and it is called Christian Slater. Ever since I saw him, for the first time in True Romance, I knew he was that special kind of B-lister who would forever remain in my good grace. And although he seems to have thrown away his career and wasted much of his talent, I still enjoy him whenever he is on screen.
In Pursued, he doesn't disappoint, acting with a manic streak inside of him which would make Nicolas Cage jealous, he goes completely over the top.
A shame, he didn't get anyone to truly work with.
Why I watched this movie? Ok...I have a problem...everytime I see a direct to home entertainment movie starring Christian Slater I jump all over it.
What is this one about? A fast rising hi tech executive must protect his career and family from the ruthless tactics of a homicidal corporate headhunter (Slater).
My thoughts on this one? Let's see this one got a 5.3 on IMDb....so people do not like the movie...but they do not think it is one of the worst movies that they have ever seen. The story is just silly....Slater chews up the scenery.....the finale is just dumb....yet overall...I thought this was an ok movie. That is good enough to merit a 3 star review from me....which means it is an average movie. I think the producers of this movie would be happy that they made an average movie. Slater fans will enjoy him in this one.
Actually not too bad watch even if it really doesn't go anywhere significant.
Also I just have too 'Gleaming The Cube' in Letterboxd on Christian Slater films......need to peg ALL of them off sooner rather than later!!!
