Reviews of Puss in Boots 2011
-
Fun to watch, had a good few laughs, too many 'isn't it funny when cats do this?' jokes, which I enjoyed, but surely can't stand a seconds watch
-
A convoluted plot and wonky fight choreography very nearly sink this just-okay feature.
-
Nothing to write home about. Slept through a bit of it, it was very forgettable.

Although it lacks the humor and charm of the Shrek films, this seemed like a solid enough outing for a spin off prequel film.

Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) teams up with his estranged childhood friend Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and a female rogue named Kitty Soft Paws (Salma Hayek) to steal the magic beans from Jack and Jill (Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris) so they can climb the beanstalk to the Giant's castle, where riches presumably await them.
The character of Puss In Boots was a consistent scene stealer in the Shrek films, so it was natural to give him the spotlight.…

Should really have just been a short film. Watch it for the animation and the voice if you really have to.

I have to say that Puss in Boots is one of my favourite animations. I think it is cleverer that Shrek and probably more enjoyable on a broader level.
It won't receive the acclaim of the film is spun from, but if it had come first it's probably the movie we'd all be talking about. But then it couldn't come first could it?

A spin-off lacking the verve and ironic wit that made the original Shrek such a pleasure. Your kids will like it, but they can do better.

Terribly boring.
