Like the zombies in it, this franchise refuses to die.
I wonder why?

With Paul W.S. Anderson back in the director's chair this is easily the second best of the first four Resident Evil films. Blatantly, hilariously optimized for 3D, just a pleasurable ordering of sandbox action set-pieces. There's a guy with a sack on his head and a giant axe--likely based on a boss from the games?--lumbering around, whom gloriously is neither explained nor justified. Full of stupid slow-motion Hot Topic Milla & zombie-gore tableaux, and really, what more could you want, if you've made it this far.

I enjoyed the first three Resident Evil films they were switch you're brain off fun. I was warned about the fourth film, so I didn't have high hopes going but I didn't think it would be this bad.
Firstly the opening 30 minutes is so damn pointless and poorly explained. Then very little happens throughout the next hour. All the action has been tailored to 3D which means when watched in 2D the action feels blunted.
I've heard the fifth film is even worse, I pray that this turns out to be false but I doubt it.

She goes to a building and then goes to a boat. That's it.

Can I emphasise how much I dislike this film? Well, I'm going to be restrained here. So, I'm going to make a simple point: How can a hulk of a monster survive being shot in the head and face multiple times with a perfectly powerful handgun, but die from having a few coins shot at it? How? HOW? HOW?!?!
Now, I can do crap, but what the hell is this? I only watched this out of respect for the other films, but it couldn't even deliver the minimal amount. An insult to cinema, and to humanity.

Hey, boys. Is that anyway to treat a lady?
-AliceResident Evil: Extinction was billed as the last entry of the franchise by everyone involved with the film, but most importantly it was billed that way by Sony Pictures. Of course the movie finishing with an open ending would cause some to say bullshit, but I think that it was the intended way to close the franchise because the so-called "open ending" painted the franchise into a corner that did not lend itself to a compelling story for another sequel.
The last film brought the franchise to a post-apocalyptic era, something the video games haven't done after 15 or so sequels over the last 17 years. It also brought the…

Really enjoying this series. Never thought in a million years I would be saying that. They get better as they go as well.

this was the most intensely euphoric film i have ever watched and i was in tears throughout the last act

The weakest entry in a series that I love - but still entertaining. After the dusty grittiness of the previous chapter (EXTINCTION), this one feels especially sterile and digital.

At this point, the Resident Evil films are trying pretty hard. The twist endings are getting less original and the horor aspect has disappeared completely.

The worst in a series that I love - but still entertaining. After the dusty grittiness of the last chapter, this one feels especially sterile and digital. But it ends with a cameo of Jill Valentine, easily my favorite character in the movies - and that makes me hopeful for the next one.

I swear each film in this franchise gets dumber. Now I have to see Retribution!

no need for this to be in 3d
