Revenge: A Love Story
2010 ‘Fuk sau che chi sei’ Directed by Ching-Po Wong
Synopsis
A serial murderer has brutally killed several policemen and their pregnant wives. After a quick investigation, the murderer is revealed to be Kit, whom the case's detective-in-charge knows from a previous case. Once upon a time, Kit was an innocent boy in a rural village who also has a crush on naïve high school student Wing. After the death of Wing's grandmother, Kit rescues Wing from a foster care facility, and the two quickly fall in love. However, their romance ends prematurely when a local policeman arrests them. The events that follow lay the seeds for Kit's terrifying path to vengeance.

I do not want to generalize, but what is with the Asians and their grisly ideas about revenge? From Oldboy to I Saw the Devil to this film in which we follow the exploits of a sadistic killer that seems to have a taste for killing pregnant women. But could this person have a legitimate reason for doing what he does? Horrific and graphic, but never uninteresting.

I really don't know what to think about this film. I would describe it as mysterious, dark, sick, weird, suspenseful, thrilling, melancholic, depressing, haunting... did I say weird? Against all odds, I liked it.

Recomendable. -

Revenge: A Love Story

Absolutely fantastic, and a harrowing watch .. other reviews I have read say they found the mode of telling the story confusing, but we had no such problems .. has some pretty graphic violence, so not for everyone, but I can't recommend this enough.

Revenge: A Love Story’s ambitiousness is admirable and the first act builds a relatively solid foundation. However Wong fails to construct anything particularly original or engaging on those first 30 minutes. By all means this isn’t a bad addition to the increasing ‘revenge’ genre, but pales in comparison to recent works from Hong Kong’s East Asian neighbours.

Decent revenge story with a couple of interesting scenes.
