Part of me really begs that it was filmed in technicolor. Color would add even more charm to the dynamic duo on screen!

An all-together glorious, but simple film. The hook is that we have a princess who is unhappy in her royal duties and just wants a little freedom. The bait is that we have a reporter who finds her on the street and takes her home and needs the scoop of his life for a bet. And the two spend the day together. That's it. It takes the Cinderella concept and tweaks it. Such an easy concept, but to pull it off, the right script and the right actors are needed - and the film manages it easily. What is needed for the best of romantic comedies is for the comedy not to feel forced (unless you're Woody Allen, when it's…

If by 2015 there is no way for me to travel back in time to consummate my love with Audrey Hepburn, I will kill ALL the scientists.
Science, you have been warned. Get to work.

I'm giving this a four simply because I am not the fondest of the formulaic plot of most romance movies (though I am more forgiving for classic films in this area) and therefore didn't quite enjoy it as much as I might have. But this is a charming and lovely film with great performances and a solid story. I was praying that it wouldn't end in a "happily ever after", "guy gets the girl", "all characters magically get what they wanted" sort of way, and was pleasantly surprised when it didn't. I think that's why this is such a good film--it's not about about true love or anything but, instead, a truly memorable day in the life of someone with an otherwise unremarkable (well, by her standards) life. I quite enjoyed it.

Audrey Hepburn is naturally charming. Her grin yields a tremendous amount of warmth, and a vast sense of spontaneity, even when you know it’s approaching. When she frowns, you’d give the whole world to make it stop, to see her happy again. Her smile encapsulates more about her than you ever thought a smile could. She has that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ quality, that gravitas you can’t put into words. She’s delicate & beautiful, coercing the affection of young men. Still bolstering a great deal sophistication & grace, compelling young women to idolize her. She is the whole package, she is an icon.
Roman Holiday is about that one special day you never want to end. Fate guides an unlikely pair…

Simply delightful. It's a familiar story, but it works thanks to the terrific chemistry between Gregory Peck and an adorable Audrey Hepburn. They really don't make them like this anymore.

My second favorite of Audrey films. She is absolutely breathtaking in this one, along with the handsome Gregory Peck.

A beautiful princess that just wants to be a normal girl runs away and falls in love with an everyman. This plots been done a million times over, but it will never be as genuine and touching as Hepburn and Peck do it. One of the most bittersweet (but perfect) endings ever.
