japanese movies i have seen so far...
On June 28, 2011, a live-action film adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin was announced. Produced by Warner Bros., with actual film production done by Studio Swan, the film was directed by Keishi Ōtomo and stars Takeru Satoh (of Kamen Rider Den-O fame) as Kenshin and Emi Takei as Kaoru. The film is scheduled for a August 25, 2012 release
This film is a little bit daft but ball ticklingly gorgeous. The choreography is brilliant, the pace is frantic and energetic, and the leads are convincing. It attempts to fuse fantasy with "reality" a little too often, and the villains are overly cartoony giving the whole thing an over-stylised vibe, but when swords are clashing and guns are parping it's just bloody good fun. Highly recommended.
