There's a good film here, but it's woefully let down by some amateurish acting and looking as though it's filmed through a sock. Some parts are so dark it's impossible to see what is happening. This is a shame, as the story is good and the sepia toned flashback to the asylum inmates is very good. I would love to see a remastered version, but I doubt it will happen.

Aside from a nifty flashback sequence and a nicely brutal murder, this mostly bored me tears. The incredibly poor picture quality on this disc only makes things worse.

Silent Night, Bloody Night. Not sure where I should start. This film isn't fantastic by any means and there isn't much when it comes to gore. You'll get a bit of splatter and one lady loses a hand, but that is about as far as it goes. It's a fairly decent slasher/thriller...with a pretty cool back story that isn't fully realized. One scene that I'll remember involves some asylum patients..fairly unsettling but effective. The acting isn't too bad, nothing really cringe worthy aside from one actress who meets an untimely end so it's okay. Giallo fans should enjoy this for the most part...it's not on the level of Dario Argento but genre fans should dig it. Worth the watch and it should get you into the x mas spirit.
