"Science created him. Now Chuck Norris must destroy him."
One of the most badass taglines out there. It's hard to be more badass than that let alone for that line to be more badass than it's own film.

Part of the 1982 Project Just when I thought I had seen all that Chuck Norris had to give from 1982, I spotted Silent Rage. I hadn't previously heard of it but was just expecting the usual Norris early 80s action. But then I saw the poster and the following line .... "Science created him. Now Chuck Norris must destroy him"...... Now I was positively intrigued. But still not expecting too much, I mean it was still an early 80s Chuck Norris flick. How wrong could I be, straight away it was obvious this was something different. Opening up on an ambitious 5 minute long shot and coupled with hardly no dialogue for another 10 minutes. It had me hooked. I don't wish to go into any spoilers, I will just say this is Chuck Norris Vs Frankensteins Monster (sort of). And for being different in a good way I recommend

Chuck Norris meets horror? That's what this basically is, the plot being Norris vs. a seemingly unstoppable genetically-engineered killer. There are many scenes which would fit comfortably in an early 80's slasher. The director Michael Miller has no other relevant films on his resume, but I liked what he did here to raise the film above the norm. He does some interesting techniques like long continuous shots, a lot of hand-held camera work, and having objects moving in the background. The horror-tinged score is effective. An early role by Ron Silver as one of the scientists gives the film a very good performance for a B-movie. The climax is a treat, it's basically three endings in one. Norris is his…

Definitely the odd duck in Norris' early filmography, SILENT RAGE is a fun combination of the mad scientist/slasher/asskicking redneck sheriff genres. Call it WALKING TALL WITH DOCTOR FRANKENSTEIN ON HALLOWEEN if you will.
As you might have guessed, the script is all over the place--ranging from the idiotic to the movingly authentic. Guess which parts Norris is in! Stephen Furst is along for the ride for comic relief, which is unfortunate, but Ron Silver makes up for it as one of the doctors (along with De Palma regular William Finley) responsible for the unkillable maniac the good sheriff finds himself up against.

Chuck Norris takes on the slasher genre. No-one wins.

I saw a censored (10 minutes missing) version of this film so it might be better uncut.
Maybe I should see it again, uncut. -

Part mad scientist film, part slasher film, and part Chuck Norris action vehicle, this movie is all awesome all the time. Completely unlike the typical Norris movies of the time.
