Whoopi Goldberg at her moral giving best, I like to think of it as High School Musical before High Schoole Musical...must remember to watch those films before I make comparisons like that.
Anyway it is a bit of family fun and the tunes are fun and the message is a good healthy one.

Guilty pleasure movie! Yes it's standard and predictable, but Lauryn Hill's voice is so amazing that I look past all that to hear her sing. I love all the musical numbers and it's just a fun feel-good movie. In other news, a coworker of mine thought this movie was called "Sister Act 2: Black in Action"....really?!

While there are a lot of cute/nice moments, this film feels kind of like a cash-grab. In so many ways it is a re-tread of the first film while also feeling out of date. Like they took a script from the 40s and threw in some 90s references. I grew up on the first film and really enjoyed it but this one feels like its missing something. The original felt dirty. This one feels scrubbed clean. But boy can Ms. Lauryn Hill belt it!

FIRST TIMER HERE, YEP. L Boogie, what happened? Also, one third of City High was in this? Who knew.
I only liked when that little boy busted out his surprise high note and they threw in Janet's "Control" plus some choreo for a second.

How the hell did Bill Duke go from starring in Predator to making this?
I might have enjoyed this less than I should because I watched with someone who laughed at the jokes before they happened as she loves the film.

It's on tv while I work, mainly for background noise. Not as good as the first film. Who cares about singing kids who's highschool is getting shut down so they have to join a choir to save it. An unnecessary sequel. Though it is more musical than the first film.
Ah, Lauren Hill. What the he'll has she been doing except having babies & not paying taxes. Wasting her talent away.

Soo much better than Glee, but just as corny.. Sometimes..

Whoopi Goldberg injects some music into inner city kids and patronises everyone else in the process.
