Hasta ahora, la carrera de Burton podría dividirse en dos mitades. La primera mitad, la que realizó en el siglo XX, resulta indiscutiblemente interesante. La segunda no. Sleepy Hollow es un magnífico cierre de la primera mitad.
So far, Burton's career could be split into two halves. The first half, the one made in the twentieth century, it is undeniably interesting. The second is not. Sleepy Hollow is a magnificant closing to the first half.

This is Tim Burton's work at its best (Although Edward Scissorhands is the better film). The film isn't particularly strong but the whole feel to it is incredible - the clash of horror and subtle comedy, the gloomy settings, and Christopher Walken as a headless horseman. The combination of Johnny Depp, a frequent lead in Burton's films, is a highlight of the film too, and is much better than their recent work together.

While it does drag a bit towards the end I still found this to be in the better half of Burton's filmography. The cinematography by living legend Emmanuel Lubezki is fantastic and he manages to do great work while still matching the look of a Burton world. Johnny Depp is great fun as a detective not cut out for the job. He brings some much needed comedic relief at times. The plot gets a little too twisty and convoluted towards the end but luckily we've got Chris Walken with filed-down teeth swinging his axe and sword like a champ.

"There may be a little witch in you."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because you've bewitched me."Thus is the only moment of whimsy in an otherwise dreary Tim Burton film, the second of the series of big budget, effect-driven adaptations in which he's found himself mired for the last 15 years.
I want there to be something more in these films, but they strike me as picturesque only, all mopey grays and blacks without any real sense to creativity or style. It gives the impression of having at one time been about several kinds of things, the depths of which were lost when the mish was mashed together. Ichabod Crane is a rational scientist confronting superstition, only to learn…

Christopher Walken has literally 3 lines in this film...
1. NAAAAHH!
2. WAAAAHH!
and who could forget...
3. RAAAAHH!Would you believe as crazy as he is in this film, he's been crazier on and off film?

Even as a Burton fan, this rang a little hollow to me (pun slightly intended). It's fine while you're watching, but pretty unmemorable.

I believe the film makes proper justice to the Washington Irving's horror tale. Couldn't be anyway else, because we're talking about a classic. With it's cool effects and excellent cast working throughout the sinister photography, Tim Burton manages to do the job right.

Part 3 of my Johnny-Depp-Marathon at his 50th birthday.
Yeah, well. It's not exactly his birthday anymore. But anyway I watched this horror/fantasy/detective/comedy-movie by Tim Burton.
First time on Blu-ray and in the original language - and it was so much better, even though I wasn't as scared of the headless rider as I had been back then, when I had watched 'Sleepy Hollow' for the first time. But instead there were a lot of puns on genre-classics I finally got.

A pesar de la sangre hecha con pinturas Vinci, es muy efectiva. Creo que es la última que me gustó de Depp/Burton.

Tim Burton is obsessed with Gothic art and Sleepy Hollow is another contribution to the genre from him. Told as a fairy tale for the grown ups, SH is not free from the Burton cliches. Starring Johnny Depp, the film is about the investigations of a constable on the decapitations happened in a village. Filled with fun, thrills and sleek visuals of the Gothich age- SH is a good entertainer. Danny Elfman's densely detailed soundtrack is another highlight of the film. Rating:7/10

Even though it's not an original property, this might be one of Tim Burton's best. It's definitely one of his best adaptations. You still get all the standard issue Burton trademarks (Danny Elfman, quirky designs), but everything is toned down, darker and influenced by the old Hammer movies. There are no bright colors, except during the flashbacks of Lisa Marie, which make those scenes pop out.
My only problem with the movie is the casting of Christina Ricci. The pairing with Depp seems odd and they just don't look like they would be a couple, more like brother and little sister. Everyone else is fabulous. I like the plethora of British actors that are all over this movie, and it's always nice to see Jeffrey Jones on screen.

Hangulatos film, néha erőltetett fordulatokkal, és béna CGI-jal.

Según el día, mi película favorita de Tim Burton. Lo que si tengo claro es que posiblemente sea su ultima gran película.
