Jackie Chans snake style is worth a watch :)

This film is awesome.
One of the best Kung-fu films ever and probably Jackie Chan's 2nd best film (after Drunken Master).
Some classic training scenes and brilliantly choreographed fight scenes (by the legendary Yuen Woo-Ping who directs this) and the great Siu Tien Yuen (who is actually Yuen Woo-Ping's father!) as the drunk old man, a role which he plays brilliantly, not just in this film.
Overall a pure kung-fu classic.

Basically the first Jackie Chan kung-fu comedy has a real feeling of fun, even though at times it just goes overboard into the totally ridiculous.
It's inventive, funny, but essentially a pretty dumb movie. I certainly prefer Jackie's 80's movies to his early stuff.
Still better than his Lo Wei movies of the same period, arguably even his best work from the 70's."What a bitch. I hope she drops dead."

Ah, it's naive young Jackie Chan, working and living in a martial-arts school that treats him poorly because he's inept at fighting, at least until he befriends a secret kung fu master who teaches him the snake style, making him a target because the practitioners of the eagle style want to eliminate it due to some multi-generational feud.
A goofy premise, but let's face it, fans still have trouble with people who enjoy the same thing in different ways. I, for instance, think the people who enjoy dubbed martial arts movies because they like laughing at things that seem low-rent are monsters for a variety of reasons, but I shouldn't begrudge them the fun they were having with this screening.…

Entertaining combination of old school kung fu & comedy/slapstick, from Yuen Woo-ping & Jacki Chan. 6/10

Sure, it's just a dry run for DRUNKEN MASTER, but it's still one of the most important kung-fu films ever released. Things would get tweaked significantly in the following few years, but there's still some great fights here and Jackie playing a bit of a different comedic character than what was to come. For this week's ENTER THE FIST.
