Reviews of Solomon Kane 2009

Un sólido y contundente "meh".
-
Kind of clichê, but with some really good fights. So it is enjoyable.
-
Entertaining action movie, clearly lower budget than these types of movies usually have, but it makes good use of it. The story is predictable and the dialog trite, but still I was entertained.

Decent wanna-be Hollywood blockbuster. Solomon Kane takes place in the 1600s and features a hero who has led an evil life, and now is attempting to avoid a trip to hell by making up for his wicked ways. There's a mix of supernatural and swashbuckling, as a demon-led army takes over what seems to be a large chunk of England with zero resistance: there are apparently no government soldiers or resistance anywhere they go.
There's nothing overtly wrong with this…

Fraco.

Watched this one again. I liked it. It is just my speed and I have a fondness for Supernatural action films. Very gory and has some gruesome baddies but well made nonetheless. I hope they make sequels but I am not sure how much of a chance there is of that.

Pretty much an ideal example of my maxim that films can be enjoyable without being good. This is a fun, cheesey fantasy action film, remarkably faithful to the tone of the Howard stories, despite a stupid video-game boss at the end. One thing, of all the characters that didn't need an origin story, Solomon Kane is pretty high up the list.

The movie has great scenes and good fights, but he was losing with a banal argument ...
If you want a film full of entertainment this is a good option, but don´t expect much from him ... -
Taken as simple fantasy hack-and-slash, it does the job. But those hoping for a deeper exploration of an interesting character are going to be disappointed.
And the script's shite.

Entertaining slice of nonsense. Wouldn't mind a sequel though.....
