Stories about women. I originally started this list just as a reference for myself, but hopefully others will find it…
A romantic comedy with a whole lot of drama.
Kenya McQueen, a corporate lawyer finds love in the most unexpected place when she agrees to go on a blind date with Brian Kelly, a sexy and free-spirited landscaper.
That poster up there is the DUMBEST.
Look, this movie is not empirically 'good'. The dialogue veers from on-the-nose to just...the nose. The supporting characters are mean to the white dude until...they're not anymore. But, as the great Roxane Gay said, Simon Baker can GET IT.
Also, references to "Senator Obama" and "one of those internet blind date things". It's 2006, y'all.
A nice romantic movie dealing with some (but by no means all) of the issues that can come from interracial dating.
Something New is just enough new (injecting the racial climate into an otherwise just okay romantic comedy) to warrant a single viewing.
"Let go, let flow."
Really loved this. Couldn't say more because it was just a delight seeing two underrated (imho) actors work a really good script and a somehow sensitive topic. Simon Baker is my mcm. Haha (had to throw it in there).
Ok, it should be a 3-star but who can resist Simon Baker for that extra half-star?
this is such a cute film
I can't say I can relate to the issues this movie is focusing on, the black and white question, but I think it was cute enough.
And all the yummy Simon Baker!
From his book, and because nobody had listed it here yet (as I noticed as I should link to it…
Running list of my favorite movies. No rankings - just a hodgepodge of love and awesomeness.
