The first time I saw this film was opening weekend back in 2011. I'd seen Duncan Jones impressive directorial debut Moon so naturally I wanted to see his next film. I was impressed in 2011 and I was equally impressed on last nights re-watch. It's a terrific sci-fi thriller with solid performances especially from Gyllenhaal who really shines here. Everything is explained well so the plot is not confusing and it's just a well done film all around. I think Jones is definitely a director to watch because he's two for two in my opinion. I'd put Moon and Source Code up there with films like Looper, District 9, and Children of Men as some of the best sci-fi films in recent memory! It ranked in my top 10 from 2011 and after this re-watch I'm happy to say it still does.

Logic. Who gives a fuck?..
Source Code is a genuinely intelligent, modern, Sci-fi thriller. You really shouldn't think too hard over its premise. But it makes you think. And that's the sign of a brilliant film.
Each 8 minutes(are they really 8 minutes? Has anyone checked??) have enough new about them to keep you entertained, and the film moving forward. It is gripping for the duration. And pacer than you'd expect for a film where the same 8 minutes plays over and over.
But it's trump card is its ending. It's an ending to start a thousand conversations.
Source Code is a stunning movie. And everyone involved deserves longer than 8 minutes amongst the elite.

Director - Duncan Jones
Writer - Ben Ripley
Cast - Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright, Michael Arden, Russell Peters and Gordon MastenIt’s tough to break free and make a name for yourself in the cutthroat world of cinema. It’s a bazillion times harder when you happen to be the son of one of the most successful and well-loved glam rock stars of all time. Duncan Jones (born Zowie Bowie) first came to the public’s attention in 2009 with the critically-acclaimed science fiction film Moon. Not one to settle for being a one-hit wonder, Jones further established his filmmaking credentials in 2011 with another science fiction hit, this time in the form of Source Code.

This is a film of many contradictions. The thriller element of the story is unrelenting, exciting and always pulls the story forward but you'll guess whodunit almost immediately. The majority of the characters are little more than crudely sketched stereotypes yet you care and root for the important ones in the story. Finally, the romantic angle is impossible to truly develop because of the constraints of the concept yet it works by becoming the heart of the film. Most of the time contradictions in film are a weakness and a flaw yet here they add greatly to the experience.
If this film had been made in the '90s it would have starred Keanu Reeves and involved considerable re-writes so the…

Duncan Jones is a fantastic Director. After the great success of his 2009 directorial debut Moon, I was hot on his trail and looking forward to his next film. Source Code has bigger ambition and is an extremely entertaining film, it's just not as Sci-Fi pure as Moon. Source Code is a complex, compelling and a great mystery. Jake Gyllenhaal is Captain Colter Stevens, a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man on a train, here begins the mystery of who he is and why he is here. Gyllenhaal is fantastic and Jones drip feeds the story and keeps the mystery running with great skill. This is one of my Top 10 films of 2011.... and I thought it was very believable... until Captain Colter Stevens used Bing as his search engine. :)

"Source Code is not time travel. It is time reassignment."
This doesn't quite top Duncan Jones' debut film 'Moon' but then again it'd have to be near-perfect to do that. What this is though is a clever, thrilling, original sci-fi movie that's guaranteed to keep you thinking and coming up with your own theories after watching it. Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty decent in the role of a soldier continually reliving the last 8 minutes of another persons life in order to find a bomber, and the writing isn't too bad either. The time travel/displacement aspect though is definitely the thing that'll keep you talking about this. Hopefully his next film (whatever that may be) keeps up the streak.

Helicopter pilot Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up on a commuter train in the body of another man just moments before the train is destroyed by a bomb. He learns that he is part of a mission to find the bomber, and that's all I feel comfortable saying. Director Duncan Jones and writer Ben Ripley allow us to share Colter's confusion, and the main pleasure of this intelligently scripted film is watching him discover not only the identity of the bomber but the true nature of his assignment.
Most science fiction films are really action movies or horror films, so it's nice to see one that relies on clever writing rather than special effects. Jones infuses his thriller with a believable and touching love story through the introduction of Christina (Michelle Monaghan), a doomed fellow commuter. I missed Jones's first film, "Moon," but now I want to see it.

Ja naja.
War ok aber mehr auch nicht. -
Jake Gyllenhaal is excellent as always, it's clever yet not too confusing and the concept of the film is brilliant and executed fantastically. I definitely recommend this, especially to fans of time travel based sci fi films.
