SPIDER-MAN >>>>>>>>>> THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

I never really got into Spider-Man as a child; I never disliked the character, I just didn't connect with him, not in the way I dug Batman or Superman. I've never been one to particularly identify with or enjoy the tale of the high school geek or loser, hence why it's taken me so long to watch Sam Raimi's first of three takes on the origin story for Peter Parker, the science nerd bit by a spider who gains great power and great responsibility. Nor can I honestly say this did much for me; perhaps I've fallen in love with a richer texture of comic book movie in the decade since Raimi's film debuted, but for me this was all…

The last time I watched this was in the cinema, some nine years ago. And I loved it. I thought it captured the comic book feel perfectly, was beautifully made and gave us some vintage Raimi moments.
While most of that still holds, I found myself rather disappointed while watching this again. I somehow managed to miss the unbelievable campiness of this film first time around. It annoyed me to no end. Every actor is either slightly overdoing it or going completely overboard. It almost felt like a big budgeted pantomime at points. While I really like Defoe as an actor, his performance is just too much here. I never really minded Maguire as Spiderman, but in this rewatch his wooden delivery and unconvincing emotions stuck out like a sore thumb.
I don't think I'll re-watch part two and three as I felt they were inferior already. I'll just wait for the series reboot.

Way campier than I remember it being. Funny how ten years of formulaic superhero movies have aged this tremendously. It's most noticeable in the acting. Most of it is bad. There are some bright spots by naturally good actors who are just force fed with some of the clunkiest, on the nose dialogue. The ONLY performances I found to fit naturally into comic book world as "real world" style were J.K. Simmons and Willem Dafoe.
Fortunately, the action is still bathed in very entertaining Raimisms. However poorly the special effects have aged, I still found the action beats to be inspired, exciting and original for it's time. I found them more fun this viewing than ever, actually. The 9/11 undertones…

This still holds up pretty well, but the third act is still as brutal as I remember. What I didn't remember was just how brutal the funeral scene is. The interaction between Franco and Maguire is really awkward, and then Mary Jane throwing herself at Peter after sucks pretty hard.

"With great power, comes great responsibility."- Spider Man. If you were to ask me what my 5 favorite comic book movies were these 5 would come to mind: X2 X-men United, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Avengers, and this Spider-Man movie. I don't remember seeing it in theaters but I have seen it many many times since I was a kid. Even at 10 years old I knew this was a great movie, maybe not why but I knew that it was great. Well now I can say why it is a great movie. The script is phenomenal, Sam Raimi did a great job at telling the origin story of Spider-Man. Yes it's a little cheesy but it's also a…

I believe this movie started the whole streak of good comic book movies, before this they were all bad, even the Burton's Batman was more style than substance, and this movie finally got to the essence of the character, to the emotional resonance that makes Peter Parker be who he is, it does have a bit of a goofball humor streak, which I imagine is Raimi. All in all it is still very enjoyable and makes me wonder what is Mark Webb going to do to make his movie compelling without stealing a lot from this.

Una correcta presentación de nuestro querido vecino Spiderman.
Un duende verde menos robótico hubiera sido mejor.

That part when Tobey Maguire is goofy looking.

Toby Maguire is the perfect Peter Parker. Sadly he isn't a great Spider-Man with his portrayal of the character lacking the charm and humor that makes him so great in the comics. Whilst still a very good film Spider-Man has aged horribly with many of the effects looking downright laughable. Age hasn't be kind to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

Probably the perfect super hero movie. Not the best but a perfect example of the genre. Watched it with my GCSE Film Studies class as they are studying the superhero genre. I really like Maguire as Parker, he has the perfect level of geeky charm. Dunstable is as cute as ever and Defoe is nicely bonkers. Raimi does a great job with the action sequences particularly when Spidey is swinging through the skies of New York.

Καταλαβαίνεις ότι έχουν περάσει 11 χρόνια από την ταινία όταν μέσα σε αυτή υπάρχουν οι λέξεις "Julia Roberts in a thong".
