Must.Have.More.Helen.Slater.
Being a fan of all things Superman and a strong supporter of Action Girls, it's a wonder I waited so long to see this movie. I think I was afraid of its reputation. And given the choice, I guess I gravitated back to Lois & Clark or the first two Reeve films. But I finally nutted up and watched it today.
Despite being a little bit wooden and mistaking "empty-headedness" for wide-eyed wonder and innocence in the early scenes, Helen Slater makes an okay Supergirl. She's beautiful, with hair and legs to die for and the perfect figure for this iconic costume. Unfortunately, she lacks Superman's dignity. There's just something insubstantial about her.
Faye Dunaway tries her darndest as the…

Awful film!
Could they have shown anymore wires holding this girl up? Seriously-almost every shot you can see the wires.
The budget for this film was 35 million and they must have paid Faye Dunaway 34 million-I don't know what else could have attracted her to this role-the role of Selena is terrible. Combined with Brenda Vaccaro's character they could be the worst villain duo in all of film. Their dialogue is atrocious-some of the worst I have ever heard in my life.
So Supergirl just so happens to land next to the school that Lois Lane's sister or cousin is attending? And who also happens to be close with Jimmy Olsen? What a crock of shit! And why does…

"Supergirl" is something of a curiosity. It is neither as bad as its reputation would have you believe, nor as good as it could have been under the right circumstances.
Kara is a young woman from Krypton, in a place called the Argo City. When a special item that holds the power to the city is sent out into space accidentally, she follows it to Earth to save the city. Once there, she finds she has powers and begins a dual identity as Supergirl and Linda Lee. She discovers that she isn't alone in wanting the item she came for. A witch (an over-the-top Faye Dunaway) decides she can use it to gain great power. There's also a romantic subplot…

Movie # 15
I've never seen this and went in blind to it not knowing too much about the Supergirl Character or anything.
All I knew about Supergirl was what I've seen portrayed on Smallville, anyways I surprisingly enjoyed this one. Its got as much cheese as a butlins holiday and is very camp to boot. Its accompanied with a decent soundtrack which, goes well this movie.
Yeah could see myself watching this one again in time. Will it be as good on rewatch I don't know

I could try and explain the plot to this god awful mess but I am not so sure I understand it myself. The survivors of Krypton are living somewhere in 'inner space' and that's where Supermans Cousin is living with Mia Farrow and Peter O Toole. Some accident takes place involving a small ball which apparently they can't live without, so Supergirl jumps into a pod to go and chase it, and the the next thing they are both on Earth. This film is as stupid and dumb as it is illogical and incoherent . I am aware that this is for small children but still, they could have least tried for all this to make sense. And as for…

Supergirl's blatant disregard for narrative logic makes viewing it feel like an assault. The plot careens out of control in mere minutes, getting wilder and dumber with each scene, as the genre changes at will. The hilarious prologue with Peter O'Toole and Mia Farrow is pure sci-fi, but gives way to the zaniest supernatural thriller imaginable with Faye Dunaway at her campiest. (O'Toole and Dunaway were begging for the Razzie nominations they earned.) Dunaway is a villain of pure convenience, without real motivation and powers that conveniently thwart Helen Slater just long enough to pad the runtime. Furthermore, the cheesy effects, nonsensical action set pieces and inexplicable romance between Slater and Hart Bochner make this about as bad as bad movies get.
