I guess I shouldn't have expected much from this as one look at the poster is enough to know that this is a 30-second S.W.A.T. promotional video stretched out to two (!) hours. With big name stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell, in a time when both seemingly didn't care about anything other than cash, this was pretty much guaranteed to be a commercial hit. That being the only thing in mind for this movie there isn't really anything close to substance, but what is inexcusable is that it doesn't even deliver on the action front. It's a boring, uninspired mess of a movie and an utter waste of time.
S.W.A.T. is about as predictable as they get…

Not as good as Cries and Whispers.

And now for the second flick in tonight's S.W.A.T.-themed double feature: S.W.A.T. This is a tidy little Hollywood flick, compared with Asia's ultra-violent The Raid: Redemption.
This is a fun if somewhat mindless (but not too mindless) homage to the 70's TV series. I loved the old show and was surprised to hear strains of its theme music - ever so subtly blended into the hard rockin' soundtrack - during the course of the movie. Even character names sounded familiar. Oh, and the fairly solid cast: Sammy L.J. hangs with MC Colin F. and LL Cool J for a trigger-happy good time.
Not a bad outing, really, if you have any nostalgia for the 70's TV show... or simply like a good snack.... er, sneak attack.

Sanchez is obviously tough and independent.

Have to admit, till date I had only seen snippets of SWAT and had thought that it was lame.
After having seen it, the movie is a very nice action flick and is made more enjoyable with the ever cool Samuel Jackson.

a little predictable

Rewatch. This movie proves that in 2013 we've come a long way with action movies. So much more action in movies nowadays. Still a good rewatch though!

or "Dr. Pepper: The Movie" - Oh my goodness, I don't think I have ever seen such obvious product placement. There's whole bits of dialogue regarding Dr. Pepper. At a hot dog stand, the beverages (prominently) on display to choose from are Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, and Dr. Pepper's Red Fusion, along with another drink or two conveniently turned around to make them unidentifiable. In at least 2 other scenes, there is obvious placement of the drink. Yikes. Between this and X2, it seems they've really decided to pour their marketing budget into movies.
The movie itself? It was enjoyable enough. A little short on story, but okay for a late summer popcorn flick. I do like the cast assembled here, and wish they'd done another, although I'd like to see a much better story. -
Revisited this one after searching for Jeremy Renner on Netflix. Forgot he was in it, and certainly didn't notice him back when I first saw it. Shoulda been clear to me then though: he was going to be a movie star.
Otherwise this film is insane with a capital I.

Nothing great but nothing bad. Can't complain too much, it's got some bad one liners too. I'm expecting the sequel to be worst.
