Film 49 of The December Project.
This is Woodstock by Ikea. And takes longer to get out of than one of their shops. It's Ang Lee, I should have known what to expect, but this had been on my Amazon list for over 3 years and it's twice as long as that since I saw one of Lee's films.
As another reviewer said the premise of this film is kind of "Have you ever wondered about Woodstock as project management?" But that's still more interesting than this. And if you've ever organised so much as a student union event, you will be gobsmacked that the thing worked despite Demitri Martin's dappy, in-denial character Elliott who first asked the festival's head…

More about the being in the moment than about the music at Woodstock per say. Family and responsibility are big themes and are handled well by Lee.
The best thing about the movie is the acting. Special mentions to Henry Goodman and Imelda Staunton as Demetri Martin's parents. Hilarious and heartbreaking all at once.

Calling this movie "Taking Woodstock" is like making a movie called "Scarlett Johansson goes full frontal" and only showing her cleavage. Not cool, Hollywood, not cool.

Šī nav filma par Dženisu Džoplinu, The Who vai Džimmiju Hendriksu.

Due to the solid performances from Demetri Martin and Jonathan Groff, I actually enjoyed this film quite a bit but I was pretty disappointed with it initially. It's pretty long, pretty uneventful and it's a film about Woodstock without actually showing you anything happening at Woodstock. I understand why that choice was made creatively, but that doesn't mean I can't be frustrated by it.

Ever think of Woodstock as from project management perspective?

As a person who lived around the periphery of this legendary event, I avoided seeing this for 3 years. I should not have waited so long. This is, for me, an elegiac masterpiece of filmmaking. Outstanding writing that makes this movie highly recommended by me.

"Definitely not Ang Lee's best movie but it's a very decent movie all around. Demetiri Martin, Liev Schreiber, Imelda Staunton, Emile Hirsch, & Henry Goodman gives good performances."
