"Great movie. Brilliant performances from Cheadle, Ejiofor & Taraji P. Henson."

This is one of those true stories about a famous guy, who I’d never heard of until this film, that goes through all kinds of adversity to get recognition. If you like these kinds of films you’ll like this one. It’s about a radio dj. Well directed, with plenty of period music

Unfortunately, the movie's spirit would have been better matched to its Jester of the Airwaves' main character, Petey Green. As it stands, this perfectly serviceable, respectably solid exercise in safe mode behaves like the other protagonist: The innovative marketing man struggling to cope with the fact that his ambition has muted his blackness. (Or has it?) (Groan.)

Cheadle's is a master in this and Ejiofor is very good. The movie is very uneven though. The first half works, but then the tone/plot/direction shifts and everything feels only half or quarter baked. It's worth it for Cheadle.

A beautiful mix of comedy and drama with Cheadle and Henson really showing off. Up to the point of Martin Luther King Jr.'s death, it had been pretty much a comedy, but this part was handled with so much care.

Don normally is always right for the films he is in and he is great in this one. I remember hearing mixed reviews for it but I enjoyed it. It is the standard bio pic but that doesn't mean that it is a bad film because this film Is worth checking out
