Spin-off of The Caker Baker's list.
With the Letterboxd crew having recently added the feature of sorting films by rating,…
A mouthy and feisty taxicab driver has hot tips for a green and inept cop set on solving a string of New York City bank robberies committed by a quartet of female Brazilian bank robbers.
First entry on my 5 Days....5 Remakes list (boxd.it/5hJy )
Hollwood version of the French film, now set in New York and starring...
Latifah is a taxi driver and Fallon an inept cop who team up to try and catch some Brazilian bank robbers played by Bundchen and co while trying to stay on the right side of his boss, played by Jennifer Esposito...with un-hilarious results!!
While it makes a nice change to have so many of the main roles played by women, unfortunately the awful Jimmy Fallon renders it almost unwatchable, its like all the worst bits of Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell have been sliced off and pounded…
I don't know if it was the absurdity of wanting us to believe Queen Latifah could ride a bike like a parkour genius, or the CGI racer taxi, or Jimmy Fallon gurning horrifically...
No I know, it was the moment I realised this was FUCKING SHIT.
FAILED - 20 minutes!
Jimmy Fallon has come so far.
Jimmy Fallon has come so far.
One of the things that originally caught my attention during the opening moments of "Taxi" was that the screenplay was based on a story by Luc Besson. Admittedly, I haven't seen a lot of Luc Besson movies - but the ones I've seen ("The Fifth Element," "The Big Blue," "Leon: The Professional," "The Messenger: Joan of Arc" ) - don't strike me as particularly humorous in that "Saturday Night Live" sort of way.
So I looked up the plot for what became the first movie, the 1998 film made in France. It sounds like an action film with one significant difference. In that film, a pizza delivery boy becomes a taxi driver with a penchant for speed. After getting busted…
Simplona y estúpida. Con guión reciclado.
Watched between World Cup games. Fairly funny, it raised a few chuckles. Jimmy Fallon was pretty funny and Patton Oswalt mentioning Friendster was funny as balls.
Extremely lame and idiotic, Taxi is a movie that meant an incredible waste of time and probably of talent too. I'm sure that Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah could make a funny pair in any better-written film, but this one was so bad that by the end of it I felt like I hated the two of them also.
The saving grace of the film was Queen Latifa's witty retorts and the fab action driving around stunning New York
A completely unnecessary remake.
A really quite terrible film, saved partially by an entertaining final car chase sequence.
Well this certainly is a movie. Good thing Queen Latifah is a wonderful, talented, perfect person or there'd be nothing else onscreen I'd even look at.
Watched this in preparation a compare/contrast column on Jimmy Fallon's past attempt to start a movie career vs. his current attempt to take over The Tonight Show. Needless to say, there's a reason why Fallon never became the next Will Ferrell -- he's hopelessly adrift in a formulaic odd couple buddy comedy that doesn't offer decent laughs or decent action. Queen Latifah at least seems vaguely in control of this runaway vehicle, but not to the point where she's able to keep it from careening into a ditch.
A list of films that incorporate the Wilhelm Scream. I haven't seen all of these so if you can help…
An on-going collection of the worst films ever made. Even the ones that are so fucking bad, they're not worthy…
