The movie is still awesome, but I watched the Arrow Blu-Ray and that has terrible audio! Normally I would crank the volume up with an Argento film but not with this release. Simonetti's soundtrack sounded really distorted and when thunder strikes in the finale it sounded like my speakers had blown. So that was a disappointment, especially when you compare it with the audio they did on the Deep Red release, that was excellent!

Certainly not Dario Argento's most technically accomplished film, but one of his most entertaining and possibly my personal favorite (it's either that or THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE).
While on a book tour in Italy, an American horror novelist (Anthony Franciosa) is plagued by an obsessive stalker/fan who is also murdering random women in ways that directly reference the author's latest novel. As is often the case with Italian "giallo" films, the plot is mostly window dressing for an absurd murder mystery loaded with obvious red herrings and elaborately filmed murder sequences. TENEBRAE's mystery is a real keeper though - even though it's somewhat obvious who the killer is, the film does a good job of keeping you off-balance…

An amazing blend of giallo, hitchcock, surrealism, and personal experience that you only appreciate more once you understand the circumstances behind the making of the film. Also, one amazing tracking shot that reportedly took 3 days to shoot.

Possibly in the top 5 giallo,s ever made in my opinion, Have to say this is one of dario's finest works. The score is top notch and really adds greatness to the film. And the reveal of the killer and ending is superb! If you haven't seen this you can do no better than the region free arrow blu ray, which really makes the film look brand new! fantastico!

A simply wonderful masterwork in the Giallo style.

Watching this again on blu-ray was an awesome experience. Argento's follow up to the financially disappointing Inferno proves to be a giallo masterpiece, including the 3 B's: blood, boobs and black lace, but I'd like to add another stapel of the giallo genre starting with b: bloody confusing plots that don't really make sense but that's ok because the visuals are so awesome that you're distracted for the whole film. I guess that's not very catchy.
Watch it LOUD.

Very similar to another argento film, bird with the crystal plumage but still as good. The camera work is so good and the violence is so brutal. The best stabbings in a film

I watched this because it was classified as a video nasty in the 80s and a lot of editing was done in its various forms.
So its kind of weird to read those stories and to watch it unedited on the Horror Channel.
Nowadays, the items are pretty tame compared to modern cinema. So I cant really compare this film to modern films fairly. So I wont. I am sure it was horrific in the 80s, its just a bit tame now.
Going to the acting and the plot. The film is a classic pulp film about who is the killer. A killer is copying bits of an author's new book and killing women. The killer has flash backs to…

It's not the most original movie by Dario Argento but it's an entertaining flick with one great murder scene after another.

This is an utterly glorious film, arguably Argento's best work and a virtual masterpiece from start to finish

Wow, this was excellent. A very enjoyable thriller that keeps you guessing and when it's finally over you know that because this was made in 1982 you kinda saw it coming but it was just a joy to follow the twists and turns as the suspects become victims and Argento weaves a web all around you. I think there was a certain lack of coherency in some aspects but that only makes me want to watch this again. I will admit I was confused and at points I thought the film was going to swandive but then another possible clue, another character meets there demise (to a literally heart thumping soundtrack) Suspiria and Inferno were like kids movies compared to this one!

Okay, the plot is a bit bonkers, the acting is variable (by which I mean wooden, from pine through to mahogany!) but...
...the soundtrack is so distinctive and the visuals are so stylish, all is forgiven. I love the way it's just 'different' from everything Hollywood is doing. -
