So funny and entertaining. Tom Hanks I seem to like his movies where he directs, I didn't hate Larry Crowne as much as others. Tom Everett Scott and Liv Tyler were great, perfectly playing their parts and having chemistry. Good supporting cast with Tom also being in the movies. The song is even stuck in my head. Very enjoyable and entertaining.

"I led you here, sir, for I am Spartacus."
Tom Hanks directorial debut 'That Thing You Do' is charming, peppy, fun and entertaining, is one of those film that I can watch anytime because what you see is what you get.
The cast is good not outstanding and I enjoy a lot Liv Tyler earlier career performances.

Bryan Cranston plays an astronaut in this film, just like Tom Hanks did in Apollo 13. Hanks plays a character called Mr. White, just like Cranston would later do in Breaking Bad.
This prompted a Keanu style, "wow!"

I always loved how The Bass Player never had a name because, let's be honest, no one ever knows the bass player's name.

Should I be ashamed that I haven't seen this movie until today!

This is a film that just resonates with me. From playing in bands a majority of my life, seeing the life of a freshly born band thrown into the industry and coping with the lifestyle portrayed here by the Wonders, this film just hits home for me. Tom Hanks direction is flawless, he also does a great job getting the actors to emulate playing their instruments. I personally can't stand seeing movies where people are supposed to be playing instruments but it is obvious they don't have the first clue how to actually play, drives me nuts! I love everything about this film, the music is great, the humor hits, and the performances are stellar. Yes it is kind of a cheese fest but I don't care, I love it.

My man Tom Hanks' directorial debut is a family friendly joy to watch. The film is sweet, breezy, peppy, snappy and a whole lot of fun with catchiest songs.

Another cute one! Love seeing my hometown of Orange, CA in a movie! Tom Hanks was great, and Steve Zahn was a total scene-stealer. Loved all the music (especially the jazz!) and the costumes...not to be missed.

This was my first time watching this film since moving to Orange. So sweet seeing this alternate reality version of my town depicted on screen. It's vaguely familiar yet different. Which I guess is about the same sensation people who lived through the era had upon seeing it. What a great cast filled with an awesome number of bit parts played by winners. I also dig how accurately they depict the wide swath that was 60s music. Rock next to R&B next to jazz next to crooning. It all existed at the same time.

First time I've ever seen the extended version of this, which runs 147 minutes. Doesn't much dent the film's affable charms, which always relied more on its evocation of 1964 America, though it's more apparent that the acting is merely adequate.

Very fun throwback that doesn't aim to change the world but is a perfectly fine weekend watch. The somewhat bloated script (apparently the extended version is 40 minutes longer!) is mostly overcome by the film's earnestness and joyful attitude. Completely forgot Bryan Cranston made a brief appearance as a NASA astronaut here.
