Catching up one my Alexandre Aja films after really liking Horns. Saw the end coming so not as intrigued as I was with Horns however Aja knows how to make a film look great and shoots Vancouver beautifully. On to Oxygen.
Rented Blu-ray from Netflix.
Well hello, Mr Jamie Dornan as a dreamy doctor in a magical realism type world. Watched this to thirst over Mr Dornan but found out the actual movie is really good too. Such an interesting concept, and executed perfectly. I enjoyed it a lot.

Louis Drax is an asshole.
I was rooting for him to stay in the coma, because nobody would be affected anymore by his selfish and douchebag choices. Yes, the kid is nine, but he is supposedly doing this all by himself because he is "smart".
He's just a massive asshole, imagine little Ezra Miller from We Need to Talk About Kevin, but not psychotic and even more of an asshole.
I don't hate the actor who plays Louis, he was probably forced into…
this was very weird but while i’m here watch alias grace on netflix starring sarah gadon and thank me later bye
Me: *With Jamie's 12 inch **** in my mouth* "Please stop making bad movies"
The 9th Life of Louis Drax is incredibly well-acted, occasionally thought-provoking, and as usual for an Alexandre Aja film, rich with good ideas and stunning visuals, but it's unfortunately let down by underdeveloped supporting characters, boring melodrama and romance, and disappointing twists.
starting to believe that aja has a fundamental issue with women, his treatment of the mother in this and every woman in his previous feature horns suggests that he doesn't like them very much. louis has a constant distaste for men throughout the film which he mentions frequently and justifies his belief due to the treatment of his mother by men. however the film seems to be against louis' belief as the arc of the film is basically just "love your deadbeat dad because he is the best and also hate your mother because she loves your suffering and deserves to be institutionalised." the acknowledgement made that men have hurt the mother is then proceeded by "but she's inflicting suffering…
Oh Alexandre Aja you frustrating man, I wish you were better. There are some interesting ideas but it's acted out like some melodrama and the lighting is softer than a damn Hallmark movie, I get they went for a dreamy atmosphere but it's like everyone in it is made of cloud.
Jamie Dornan is strangely not terrible either which was the biggest twist of the film.
Not the cleverest mistery story, but still an intriguing one. Louis Drax, the character, is the type of annoying kid that you would probably want to punch in real life but can't get enough of in movies, and the scenes detailing his backstory really have a PG adventure film type of feel to them. In fact, if it wasn't for an autopsy scene, it wouldn't even get an R rating (although I still think that doesn't even warrant such a high rating).
Jamie Dornan is not a good actor, period. Here, he's serviceable, but the standouts are both Aiden Longworth as the title character and Sarah Gadon as his mother (Aaron Paul's in the film but he doesn't get a…
This is really close to being a good movie. Maybe it would've worked better as a thriller than a dark fantasy? Or maybe just get rid of the kid's voiceover because it felt very false with the way the kid talked....but on the other hand, my brain is scrabbling towards the thought that this is a very interesting movie that is just let down by some performances, choices...the score was overdone....and not having a single character that I liked..except maybe Barbara Hershey for all of her brief screentime. It really hurt the emotional ending.
