I grew up assuming that the St Trinian's films were basically sex comedies, and they weren't something I expected to get away with watching at home as a child or teenager. Perhaps that was the fault of the poster for the 1980 Wildcats of St Trinian's. (Though I'm not even sure that's the British poster.) This is actually the first one I've seen. It's also the first St Trinian's film, but it assumes some knowledge in the viewer and the beginning feels rather like starting to read a series of school stories a couple of books in.

Classic comedy, little dated but I still find it amusing.
Besides which I just love Joyce Grenfell and Alastair Sim.

Madcap rollicking farce starring Alastair Sim in dual roles, one of which is the headmistress of a private girls school where mayhem is a major part of the curriculum. I found myself chuckling a few times during this film and it does have a bit of an Ealing feeling to it. But all in all, it kind of drags in spots, but never the less, entertains.

"Alastair Sim is extremely funny, in a very understated manner, in this film about the terrible school girls. Well worth watching again."

The original St Trinian's movies are for wittier than the rom-com-dumb remake.

Anarchy reigns in this classic British institution. Way better than the those shoddy remakes.
