This film is a rare breed as it simply transcends genre tropes and rules and thus creates a unique action comedy musical. And my love for it knows no bounds.
Every time I see this film I am a bit sad that Belushi did not give himself the chance to fulfil his great potential. It is clear, especially in this film, that he has a unique comedy touch and a rare musical talent. Matched to the unwavering and very reliable Aykroyd and directed with the genius' touch of Landis, this was always going to be a match made in heaven.
The humour is off beat and so wonderfully quirky it just doesn't get old. The action is ludicrously funny and…

"It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
"Hit it."This is yet another one of those films which I've seen countless times and still has the same effect on me as it did when I first saw it. It's hilarious, although being directed by John 'American Werewolf Animal In London House' will have that effect. There's that car chase, crashing what seems like every police vehicle in Illinois, Johns Candy and Belushi, one of the most quotable scripts I've heard and of course, the soundtrack. When I tell you that it's one of the best ever to exist, just trust me on it.
Did I mention Belushi and Aykroyd? Or did I assume that went without saying. If not, then they're simply awesome. As is the film.

"Here's the plan: we put the band back together, do some gigs, earn some bread, bang! We'll have 5,000 bucks in no time."
"And we would especially like to welcome all the representatives of Illinois's law enforcement community that have chosen to join us here in the Palace Hotel Ballroom at this time... "
I know a review should be more than classic quotes but really! The Blues Brothers! How can I not quote something?! You're lucky I kept it down to two.

One of those films you can watch over and over again without getting bored of it, with an amazing soundtrack and a car chase that you can't believe is happening. Unbeatable.

I'll keep this review short. Still one of the greatest comedies ever made. The Blu-ray features seamless branching between the theatrical and extended cut, and the extended scenes are a tiny bit greyish in the white levels, otherwise no faults to it at all. The Bluesmobile chase reminds me of Grand Theft Auto - remember when you'd cause shit or murder people, and you'd get chased by cop cars (first a few), then tons of cop cars, then special forces and finally a tank? And remember that stealing one of those cop cars was a good idea, 'cause it was actually one of the fastest vehicles in the game? I bet they got that idea from this movie. Oh, and…

What is there not to love about this grungy, dark and toe-tapping classic ripped straight from the characters created for 'Saturday Night Live' in the 1970s?
It features Elwood and Jake Blues (Dan Akyroyd and John Belushi) on a mission from god to raise enough money to save the local orphange where they were homed as children from destruction.
What can be easier? The fact they are putting the 'Blues Brothers' band back togetehr for a sell out concert is one thing, but tracking down all the members is another! Crossing Chicago in their classic Blues-mobile (a 1978 Police car), they encounter many famous names of the Gospel and Blues world such as Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Cab…

I could watch this movie at any time starting from any point in the movie. The music alone is worth 5 stars.

They don't make them like this anymore.
Silliness unbound, I wish we had a modern equivalent.
Fast & Furious wishes it had car chases like this. -
demorei dois dias pra conseguir chegar no final do filme. muito longo. mas é divertido e me fez lembrar um pouco da infância.
e naquela época eu não fazia idéia que ray charles, aretha franklin e james brown tinham participações especias no filme. -
A musical comedy with more explosions and car crashes than laughs and musical numbers.
As a film, it's a mess; as a glimpse at what happens on an out of control production, it's oddly entertaining.

I didn't like it as much as most people seem to, in fact quite honestly I only really enjoyed the cameo's. Especially John Lee Hooker and Aretha Franklin. It still had its funny moments though.

Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) are on a mission from God to save the Catholic home where they grew up. To do so they put together their old bluese band to raise money.
A classic comedy with one of the best and funniest car chases ever.
