The Burning Bed
Abused battered wife has had enough of husband beating up on her. Everywhere she turns for help, there's not much anyone will do. After he rapes one night, she sets the bed on fire with him in it while asleep.
I watched this with my mom when I was a kid, it would probably be the equivalent of a movie on the Lifetime channel now. It was okay at the time but I know I'll never want to watch it again.
Here is a film that should have been extremely powerful, but lacked the punch you wanted in a revenge movie. Farrah Fawcett uglied herself down for the role of a battered woman, abused by her husband over and over again. Finally when enough is enough, she torches the guy. Now, she is on trial and telling her story. Yeah, I felt bad for her or anyone in this situation, but it could have been the acting or the dialog or something, but I wasn't moved by any performance, which I was expecting.
