A documentary engineered to make you mad as fuck, that's the idea, we humans don't like to get out of our seats unless we're all riled up. As even the poster will tell you, this is some horrifying shit, you will see dolphins stabbed to death and it is not for the weak of heart. It's certainly one hell of a haunting documentary. It's one sided but it's hard to think of a way to properly aggregate just what the dolphin killers opinions are, or what makes them human, what makes them worth sympathizing with. It Raises a lot of questions on the ethics and morals of the other side, is there any remorse on their side? Maybe i don't want to know the answers.
I'm glad it won the Oscar, just because i can imagine the faces of the CEOs in the dolphin industry right after they heard. -

Possibly the greatest, most harrowing horror thriller my eyes have ever seen. Too bad it's not a movie. It's not staged fiction to provoke a reaction, it's all real.
And that is possibly the scariest thing about this magnificent documentary, what we see on screen, all the horrors, slasher sequences, tons of blood, people risking their lives, everything happened.
To tell the best spots of this great piece of journalistic work is to ruin the experience to everyone. And no, it's not an enjoyable experience, like the best eye-openers, this is extremely hard to watch, horrifying, devastating. The sense of hopelessness and impotence you feel after watching it only helps to take conscience on the facts that we just observed.… -
Truly difficult to watch, however unable to turn off, it is an eye opening insight into the brutality of whaling

A bold and thrilling piece, but it suffers from its emotional pleading.

Interesting, disturbing and frustrating documentary with amazing footage. I don't think I'll ever forget some of its images.

Why didn't this film get 5 stars? Well, basically because you can feel the manipulation like a slick oily mess all over the place. Sort of how I imagine the blood filled water of The Cove feels like after an afternoon of abhorrent slaughter. The feeling of manipulation is so thick you can cut it with a knife. But there's really nothing wrong with that. We live in a time when the days of impartial documentary film making are over, and in order to get noticed you have to make a kick-in-balls film with a message. And it just so happens I support this films message.
I am left with the rather biased opinion that if you don't support this…

The Cove is one of those rare documentaries that will make you care, and then actually want to take part in something.
