Having not seen the original, I think this is one of the most underrated zombie flicks of the last decade.

“Hoo-fucking-yah.”
-Russell Clank (Joe Anderson)The Crazies is a remake of a relatively unheard-of horror film of the same name, by genre king George A. Romero. Like its predecessor, The Crazies slipped unnoticed under the radar, and because of this is arguably one of the most underrated ‘zombie’ movies of the past decade.
I use the term zombie lightly, as like Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, cannot really be defined as such. The film follows the aftermath of a deadly biological agent, which irradiates the water supply of a small town in Iowa and turns most residents into bloodthirsty ‘crazies’.The concept is certainly nothing new, but what it lacks in originality, it more than makes up for in suspense.…

Zombie Horror
I was never a fan of Zombie films before I watched The Crazies. For what ever reason I enjoyed this more than I thoughts would. Maybe it's because the set up is more like a movie, they get into some action right away but then it slows down and tells a little bit of a story before ramping up the Zombie action. Either way this is a great Zombie film that a lot have seemed to skip, I wish they had made a sequel. Watching this a second time I notice a lot of this reminds me of The Walking Dead. Also I wasn't into this near as much as my first viewing, it's still good just something…

Solid film that I think is a little underrated. Information on the situation is revealed as we go along, keeping a brisk pace and helping to maintain interest in this town's situation. Some real tense moments.
Big fan of The Olyphant.

while nobody was paying attention we destabilized ourselves.

Predictable and not scary at all. If you want better recent horror remakes go see Dawn of the Dead!

Gotta love zombie invasions. The movie is fun and adds a different approach to the zombie genre by making them slightly smart at the beginning of their transformation. Also a lot of the danger comes from the humans to contain the outbreak, and I really like the ending where the 'heroes' basically cause the death of thousands of people

Very mediocre. Doesn't really grab you at all. Interesting concept, poorly executed.

It's always nice returning to the comfortable nightmare of Ogden Marsh, and this time is no exception!
Seriously though, I have never not enjoyed this film. Every time I come back to it there's this rich lingering sense of unease that rests like a veil across what otherwise seems like the ultimate conceptualization of what it means to live in the American heartlands. Either one- the feeling or the concept- is impressive. Together, they are nothing short of terrible magic.
The plot may be slight, but it's used to solid effect to create something that is neither zombie nor superpowered psycho killer. And instead it balances somewhere in between that we really haven't seen before. They aren't evil- just very…
